I just came across this thread while doing some research on my own cue. I was told that mine was from the same era as alot of the ones pictured here. It appears to me that mine may actually be from some time in the 80s. Though disappointing, I still love my Joss and will never part with it. Here are some pics.
The buttplate is not the original. I shattered it sometime in the 90s. While having it repaired is when I was told it was an early Joss. I don't remember what the logo on the buttplate looked like or if there even was a logo on the buttplate. It's not inconcievable that the buttplate I broke may also not have been the original. Who knows...
Anyway, it's the best playing cue I've ever had. Sure, I wish it was one of those rare, valuable ones and I stumbled upon it for next to nothing, but its value to me will always outweigh whatever the "current market" says it is worth.
