Bump!

I just had to go through and look at all the cues in this thread again. It made for a nice Saturday morning actually.

Anybody else ready to show off an old JOSS?

Chopdoc,

I happened upon this thread by chance while at work and throughout the day read through all the replies. I really enjoyed your story about the cue that is an extension of your arm. I feel the same way about my cue, which was built for me by a very special maker who no longer builds cues. Thanks for sharing!!!

My Old Player JOSS

I bought mine used from an old hustler in Reno back in the early 80's I'm not sure what year it was made. All original ivory ferrule two shafts.

Survivor Joss

I have a Joss that I bought from Dan Janes in 1981. When I have enough posts, I will try to upload some pictures. Maybe someone can give me some details on it. Thanks

We would love to see it!

These old war horses have seen a lot of action over the years. They are real players that remain real players. Even with all the advances in technology today it's hard to argue with these cues as playing cues. The looks are classic. The pedigree is unquestionable, they are at the hub of some of the greatest names in cue making.

My recent ebay find I picked up:BEM forearm,6 points with 3 veneers, 57 1/2" long and 19 1/2 with both original shafts, the seller said the ferrules and dots above and below the Cortland wrap are ivory;myself, not sure,it's not a big deal to me. The cue was refinished sometime,I asked the seller, but he claimed to have received the cue on trade,so unsure of who did the refinish or when. Apologies for crappy quality in the pics.I need to get a better camera,or a phone I can send pics with.

edit:here are a little better pics than the last:

Nice cue. That is an old one. The dots are ivory. 5/16x18 pin also. Dates it to 73-74.

Anybody know anything about this cue?

Does anybody know where this cue is from or what year it is from? I know it is a Joss... Just nothing else. Anything said is greatly appreciated. I have been using this cue for a long time and have no idea of its history! IT is a shame I know as I only remember buying it from a local shooter years ago.

Ill post more pictures if need be

Brandon
