I recently saw on a thread that Bill Stroud was selling all his equipment. Is Joss West now a thing of the past. I would reasonably expect his cue prices to escalate...although I may be wrong. I expected Timmy Scruggs prices to go through the roof and you cannot even sell a Scruggs at a good price!!!

Bill has said that he just tired of the business. Having been in it for 40+ years, it doesn't surprise me. He's done everything he ever wanted to do in the cue business. He also mentioned that he wants to get back into playing professionally again. I say good luck to him!

I was and am still surprised at the lack of talk on AZ about Bill retiring. When Tim Scruggs retired it was all over the threads. Bill Stroud and Joss West were one of the great cuemakers of our era. Wish him well also!!!

Yes, I agree...Stroud's cues are famed around the country!

I had a great one many years ago, and you know the story of regret...as I let it go...and I've been bummed ever since!

MANY years ago, I bought a brass jointed Joss. i think this might have been from the time Bill, Tim, and Danny were together.

The wrap needed some work and I went back to Alaska (where I lived) and Thomas Wayne was doing some repair on it and under the wrap was. . . . .

Jimmy Rempe with a felt pen.

The guy who sold it to me said something about Rempe and the cue AND that this was one of the earliest cues made from the JOSS group.

I no longer have the cue (or most of my collection) but I do have a picture somewhere, I think.

I play with one of Bill's cues and love it. I see no need to ever change cues. Damn, what a great cue it is too. He is a living cue making legend, of the same ilk as Ernie, and Richard Black, and Tad.Bill is still 100% able to make cues and work - but he decided to call it quits on his own terms.

Let it be said that Bill retired, the world didn't retire him.
