Hello there, new to this forum. My wife and I recently bought our first table from an older gentleman through Craigslist. When picking up the table, we were getting ready to leave, he walks out of the house with a case and says, "here, take this cue, I don't play anymore and you'll get more use out of this than I will" At the time, I had no idea what it was, but after speaking to the team that set up our table, they proceeded to inform me that this cue may be a little more than what I need for my level of expertise. So, that being said, i am looking to sell it as it would help recoup some of the cost of our table.

The base has two shafts, which the table guys I spoke with advised to be original. From the research I have done online, the base seems to be tulipwood with a green and white wrap. The gentleman I got it from said he has had it since he was 17. Overall, the stick seems to be in fairly good shape, but it does not appear to ever been refinished. The only real issue I can see is that the rubber pad on the end is missing. I will post pictures of it this evening if you are interested in taking a look.

Obviously, I am sure by reading this post, you will see that my knowledge of cues, especially older collectible cues is extremely limited. This cue would be better suited for someone that can appreciate it. I am not sure of the exact value, so please feel free to make an offer on what you think it is worth to you.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Chris

Edit: Here are the specs: Base is 16oz on the nose, shafts are both 3.5oz Shafts are both about 12mm at the ferrule, though one seems to taper earlier than the other. There are a few nicks in the finish, but none are in the wood. Hence my opinion that this cue has never been refinished. The gentleman tthat gave it to me didn't seem to be the type to know or care, after all, he did give it to mee for free! Total length is 57.5in from tip to base

Photos are being added in thread below:

Pics will be great. Also, i have been coming to this forum for some time but just recently joined and will tell you in advance that with this story and no real feedback etc you will be 1000% better off to offer Escrow on this cue. As far as value there are MANY on this forum more suited to offer advice than me. Your lucky to have such a cool cue and even more lucky to have a cue that will move in this market. GL and cant wait to see pics!!!

Thanks for the info! I'll be the first to admit that it is a pretty unbelievable story. When you mention offering escrow on this cue, what does that mean? Again, the newbie is coming out...My assumption would mean that money is held while buyer receives and inspects the product? Could be way off on this...

Never mind, just saw the escrow sticky in the forum...I got it now, sorry!

I would be more than willing to entertain escrow if someone is interested in it after seeing the pics...

Let's see some pics

Let's see some pics, also if you can weigh the butt, and shafts seperately, and measure the butt and shafts,it will help to "date" the cue.

You should have no prob selling it  ANY JW is pretty well wanted lol Even in a less than great market. I know the guys who collect the old Joss and JW cues seem to love the sideways logo stuff.... I cant wait to see pics! I sent you a pm about them. Thanks

Also, if you are going to post pix, you will also need the specifications of the cue, along with condition, etc.

Sample:
-is cue straight, together and apart
-what is the condition of the cue butt and shaft...finish, butt cap, wrap, joint
-what is the weight of the butt
-what is the weight of the shaft
-what is the size of the shaft at the base of the ferrule
-is ferrule in good condition
-what joint is on the cue, ie, pin/thread, etc
-what is the total length of the cue

I am sure there are other questions/specs that someone will want, but these are the most important.

Joe
