Glen, you are a rock star!

There's a new hall in my neck of the woods. Opened in December. I think there's 14 GCIV's. I brought your initial report of design flaw to his attention last week. He had already experienced the "droop", called on the original company that set it up, went round and round with them, no fix, hard feelings, and has since hired another mechanic.

This guy did something (lag bolts and ?, I didn't pay much attn) to correct it, although 2 tables apparently still roll off a bit. He's going to bring your information to his mechanic to ensure his investment is being properly taken care of. I am passing this latest info on.

Now if only all entities of this industry were as on the ball and forthright as you, then it would be on CBS live weekly, pro's would cash million dollar checks, sponsors would rush the gates, and even the ugliest players would get 4 star nookie!!!

While I was in the Mechanics forum last night asking for help as to why my friend's (non-RKC set up) center slate on his new $11k table was going down like a Florida sinkhole, I saw the Sticky on the GC4 that referenced this thread.

Anyway, it really made me appreciate the value of Glen's quality work. At some point in life, I think most of us transcend the need for getting the best deal on everything (esp. service work) and simply want to get what we've paid for.

Hey rkc what is the other part for the carpet feet fix..my table has exactly the same problem..You look like you have the solution ive been waiting for...I see the plywood part and the nails too its the other part im curious about..:grin:

It's the Brunswick bearing coaster that the pedestal foot sets on so you can spin the foot to adjust the level without having to lift the table to do the same thing.

You got that right.

The GC4 in the pictures with the frame and carpet mods is mine. It has been close to a year now since the table was set up and I have had no setup related problems whatsoever. These mods are solid and they work. Period.

Re: Glen not being the cheapest...I can't imagine anyone else even thinking about collecting this table in Las Vegas, making sure all the parts were there, converting it from gulley to drop, trucking it in winter 650 miles to my home in Colorado at 8250' elevation, doing the mods, buying and installing new Simonis 860, blueprinting the table, doing a dead triple nutz perfect job and gauranteeing it...for anything near what I paid Glen.

In my book Glen is the "Michaelangelo of Mechanics". Thanks for making an awesome table the BEST!

His prices are more than fair. RKC should double his prices and he'd still have more work that he could do in 10 lifetimes. I can say that..he already did my table.

bearing coasters

Glen and I were both under my table when we saw this, ask him. I get a little bit of credit here:grin-square:, its a massive design flaw there is nothing holding up the end of the box-it was fixed on ALL the 5's I have seen.


Glen does great work, on tables-what he is doing behind the scenes will impact alot of player, mechnics for a long time to come. Even if you dont agree with everything he does(and some guys dont) it wont matter Glen is gonna change alot of things, and make equipment in alot of bars better to the extent the bangers will notice. mark my words on that. I might even notice, i might be part of it, then again I might not. but things are moving foward...:smile:

Seriously, Glen has probably forgotten or discarded more ideas and better ideas than most of us will have in a lifetime. For those of you that don't know him that well, this man thinks about pool at least 24 hours per day. I may get flamed for saying this but billiard equipment has not changed much, in comparison to most sports equipment, in the last 100-150 years. Glen thinks well outside of the normal confines of that status quo, and when his pipeline full of paradigm-busting ideas starts flowing into the marketplace...watch out!

And you both are right about things moving along, I might just be a big surprise to some people that IF I pull off what's coming up next..that I change the pool tables in the home table market......as well as bring millions of dollars to the table for the pool playing world as well....as a sponsor...with some catch 22's of course:wink::wink: Some of you know what I'm talking about:wink:

True that. :thumbup2: Thanks to Glen for SHARING with others the solutions he's devised to the many problems he has discovered over the years, I am one banger that has been impacted, positively. My mechanic, Donny Wessel, was well aware of the problem and set "our" (it's still partly yours in that you have a standing invitation to come play her anytime, lol) GC4 up with the proper reinforcement. I look forward to many years of enjoyment on a true playing surface.

We have noticed several popped slates at the local room.They are Gold Crown 1and2 tables.I looked underneath some of the tables today and you can see/feel the sagging of the frame section.I will mention this thread to the room owner next time I see him.

The black trim you're talking about is the Brunswick bearing plate turn table under the feet first, used to spin the leg levelers to level the table. Don't need them with a GC1 if your legs are not adjustable.

Thanks for showing your photos! Yes it really solves the inate problem in the Gold Crown 4. I know, several months ago I did exactly what your photos are showing and this is a sure-fire fix to a problem that puzzeled me for some time. Thanks for your expertise!
