Justice for Mike Surber

People are on Youtube 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Americas Most Wanted is a great idea but how many times does it air and for how long. Any and all publicity is a plus and with the amount of people on the internet these days, Youtube is a great idea.

There are a LOT of people who watch AMW who don't even look at a computer. I'm POSITIVE youtube will be great for the investigation but I think it should be IN ADDITION to America's Most Wanted.

There are many people who tune in just to watch AMW whereas on youtube finding a video about this case will be by accident for most people.

I luv ya Joey, but you've got it backwards. Youtube should come first! It's a faster and easier way to reach a lot of people - QUICKLY! With youtube you don't have to wait for a group of television producers to give the green light to a certain episode. The video could be on the internet airway IMMEDIATELY, and accessible to many thousands of people.

Basically it duplicates what we are doing here, multiplied by a hundred or a thousand times! What's wrong with that? Like so many others I want to see this guy caught. So I would like to see every available tool being used to catch him.

I really missed Mike at DCC last week, and I'm glad that he was remembered by Steve Booth at the One Pocket Hall Of Fame dinner. Mike Surber was a valuable part of the billiard community and there should be some kind of memorial for him in the future.

You seem to think that youtube is the better medium because it is faster.

Youtube is VAST and has no specific target audience.

The target audience already exists for AMW and it is LARGE. I think the story that America's Most Wanted tells will be more effective (and professional) than youtube but youtube gets props, just like you.

Fast doesn't mean effective.

Fast doesn't mean slow either!
ANYTHING that can be done NOW should be done! JMHO as always.

Nothing wrong with either...

Youtube, Facebook, AMW, newspapers, magazines, or any of the above make sense to me. There is nothing wrong with getting the information out as quickly as possible to as many people as we can.

Rep to Joey and Jay on this. Mike's family and friends are pleased, I am sure, with your respective determination (approaches) to catch this guy, whether it be via Youtube or America's most wanted.

I would love to have either of you in my corner when my chips are all in!

What my good friend Jay fails to realize or accept is that if youtube gets the press before AMW, AMW may be less inclined to broadcast the Mike Surber story. We need both of the mediums. AMW has big production costs and big bills don't get paid unless advertisers, advertise.

At least Jay and I agree that both mediums should be used and any others that help to further the investigation of Mike Surber's MURDER.

We are all anxious and eager to see justice for Mike Surber and it can't come soon enough for any of us.

Mike was one of us and if it were me, I would expect no less from any one of you.

But first and foremost, credit needs to be given to JAM who did the real work and had the idea for a website for Mike which is www.mikesurber.com

Peace,
JoeyA

I phoned Lt. Flowers today to see what the status was of an AMW feature, and also to tell him that we're all yammering for the surveillance clip to be put on YouTube.

He said that AMW told him that the story was in the "evaluation" stage. We'll all be keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that they'll do the story.

He said that he also wrote them a letter to inquire whether or not posting the clip on YouTube would compromise their interest in the story. They haven't got back to him yet. He thinks it's a good idea, as do we all.

Thanks Doc! But did you say a letter? Snail mail? I do hope the good Lt. has use of a computer and utilizes e-mails to communicate. In 2010 EVERYONE doing business communicates via e-mail! Snail mail is how we pay our bills.

And unless your snail mail contains money, it is strage how often the proposed recipient never receives it. Hopefully, Lt. Flowers sent an "E-mail Letter".

Over the years in business, I have seen a lot of invoices from my company that never arrive, so we now send E-mail invoices to problem customers which thank goodness for us are few and far in between. I hate it when a customer says they haven't received an invoice that I know we mailed with a properly addressed and stamped envelope. Those darn postal workers. There I said it. Postal workers......

Return receipt.

I just got an email from someone who said: "I am sure I saw Jericho in Tucker Ga. a couple of weeks ago. I have contacted Biloxi & Ocean Springs Law enforcement with no response."

Where in Tucker, GA? A bar? Which one?

I think it is great everyone is badgering the police because they deserve it. I think if this crime gets solved it will be thanks to the eyes and ears of the general public and not a bunch of thugs for the State pretending to 'investigate' or whatever it is they claim they are doing.

I just got word that AMW is seriously considering running this story. Very cool if they do! This now takes precedence over youtube until they decide within a couple of weeks.

Nice to have you come over from the dark side.

Wired Magazine ran a great piece on a guy that tried to dissapear and how the power of the Internet was able to find him. Here is a link to more info on how they found him:
http://evanoffgrid.blogspot.com/
http://blog.newscloud.com/2009/09/wireds-evan-ratliff-press-roundup.html

I can't believe someone said they saw this guy in Tucker, GA and we don't even know the name of the place he was seen. Why wasn't it posted? I don't understand. There are people in this forum in every state and someone could go to Tucker, GA ( a suburb of Atlanta) and start showing the picture and asking questions, or something.

I just dont get it at all - the Internet is a powerful, empowering mechanism and it's being squandered.

I've suspect if they offered a reward and posted this guy's picture in every state and federal penitentiary, parole office and bail bondsman's office in the country we would know his real name is short order.

Hopefully America's most wanted will run this soon.

I've finally got my post up on America's Most Wanted Forum section, located under "community" and "Unsolved Cases"

I urge each and every one of you to go there, make a reply to my post and urge America's Most Wanted to broadcase Mike Surber's story.

I also urge you to POST THE CITY AND OR STATE YOU ARE FROM. This will let them know that this story has national appeal.

For those of you who are concerned about being identified, you can easily create a new email address at yahoo and use that email address. It must be a valid email address as AMW verifies your email address before allowing you to post.

As I mentioned before, it takes 48 hours for the approval process before you can post.

Thank you.

Here's hoping that some of you AZBers post on the America's Most Wanted Website where I started a thread to urge AMW to air Mike Surber's story.
