That is a hell of an offer Justin!! I respect your gamble a lot man! To be honest, I'm extremely surprised that somebody wouldn't back Mike Dechaine to get 10 games on the wire going to 100 even 10 ball on big table. I personally would take Mike in that game all day long.
In 14.1 what's the race to and what's the spot?

Justin has tried for several years to play Mike Dechaine, you can have him tell the stories. It's comical to say the least
Point is Mike won't play and no one is putting up the money for him to play because he is a dog in the game
I guess it depends on who it is if I would spit them playing straight pool. I've only played it a couple times, one time in Charlie Williams straight pool tournament. I do think it's one of the best games, hardly any luck in that game. You almost have to play a race to 800 with good players because they will run 100-200 balls easily.
Hopefully a game will come of this but I doubt it.
Glad to have you sharing with us.
You and i crossed paths in 2005. You are a little better now.
Now this is a match that I'd like to see.Scott Thomas · 0:40 Do you want to play Bergman some. I will stake it for 100k and 200k in the middle
Jayson Shaw · Set it up I'm in
OMG, get a room.

Justin, in the old days, the Straight Pool Challenge matches were always a Race to 1,000 or even 1,500, divided up in blocks of 200 or 250 per day.
It's probably the one pool game that the old time champions were equally as good as the current top players. Mizerak and Sigel were beasts at 14.1 with Varner and Hopkins not far behind.
Yeah Jay they did a lot of things better back then. Race to 1,000 points that's a real pool match. Now we play bar table race to 5 or 7 in the biggest events... Guy pockets 22 balls and the match is over... Break dry or get hooked on the 1 ball and that's half the set... It really is a crap shoot.
I was trying to talk Justin Collett into a thousand point straight pool match on TAR....
...he didn't think it would fly.
But the best stream match I've seen all year was the race to 40 one pocket with Chohan
and Orcullo....I think pool viewers are more sophisticated now.
Who's going to want to play a pro even?

I totally agree Justin. It makes sense today for a good player like you to prefer to play high dollar matches and long races. You can make a score by beating one player. Our friend Dennis would rather play matches like this than in any tournament. He would play one every week if he could get the action!
You might also consider playing long ahead sets, like ten or even fifteen ahead (8B, 9B, 10B). The best player will almost always win in this kind of match. I do think that a World Championship Ten Ball event with a similar format to the Bigfoot (all matches a Race to Eleven) would be a great way to find out who the very best players are. IMO this would be the best possible setting for a World Championship in this era of Pool.
This. Beating a pro out of his $100 would ruin my local action. Such as the sweet $12 I stacked up on Monday.
In all seriousness though, Id just as soon do $100 worth of Irish Car Bombs and watch other people hand their money to a pro. I think more people would feel the same way than you realize.
I would still prefer a 2 or 3 week long $50,000 or $100,000/man round robin race to 75 or 100. 6 players WU, Shane, Dennis, Chang JL, Shaw and baby KO or Alex. Winner take all
