I hope so

They certainly couldn't of sold out of those $25 cubes on hype alone. In my opinion if you can hold onto the chalk for the life of it the price is a real non-issue.

I haven't used the chalk so I can't exactly agree with any of the pumpers or detractors, but I can see that they sold out and may very well sell out again. Hype can't carry pool products that far....it's too small of a community and word gets around quick. The fact that word does get around quick may also be the reason this stuff is selling like hotcakes.

I hope they sell out many, many times. The more that gets out into the market, the better chance that someone will forget and leave a piece behind. Then I might get to try it out.

One day I might buy a cube of chalk for $25, but only if I already knew I could sell it for $26.

I thought you guys were sharper than this, the reason why they charge $25 for a piece of chalk is so everyone will talk about it and threads like this will exist further hyping it up and getting people curious about it. Clever people at Kamui, it is kind of like Gene's Perfect Aim for $80 or whatever, it got people talking and people bought it. I think I am going to have to work that angle sometime.

Could be

They could also be working this from another angle, the one involving human nature. You can take any two products which are exactly the same, put a price tag of $5 on one and $10 on the other. There will always be a number of people who will buy the $10 item because they assume it MUST be better if it costs more.

Does a specific brand of chalk really help your game? I mean if you add chalking your cue into your preshot routine why should it matter that you can go 15-20 shots without chalking? As long as you can manage 5-10 shots you should be fine.

I've encountered some bad chalk before, but as long as it's decent I don't care what chalk I play with.

Lenny, You should have sold the Rafael vs Sylver race to three for $199 instead of giving it away...only 15 remaind...better hurry and order

Specifically the experiment that was done with chocolates, one free and the other 1ct - otherwise exactly the same.

I can tell you that certain people have repackaged items which are commonly available for RETAIL $14 for a box of 100 and then sold them for $50 for the same 100 pieces plus a nicer box that cost about $1.

The thing is that this is not a scam like that. At least I don't think so because I talked to the owner of Kamui at length and from what I can see he has put a lot of actual effort and money into developing this compound.

Now that COULD all be just marketing bullshit and he found some substance that's readily available and he has elves busy repackaging it. But I don't think so. He told me about the beginnings of the development two years ago.

Anyway, no shortage of people willing to make unfounded accusations and insinuations. The world will never run out of idiots with nothing better to do.

The Greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince people to buy $25 Chalk?

I don't know. Seems that most people who actually TRY it agree that it's much better than standard chalk.

I doubt highly that this falls in the "Man Eating Chicken" category you find at the circus.

Did I mention scam anywhere?

It's late and I'm tired but after re-reading my post I don't believe I mentioned the word scam anywhere. I simply pointed out that there will always be a certain number people who will buy the higher priced item when given a choice. They could very well have the best chalk product ever made, but I will remain content just chalking my cue a little more often with my Masters. Now, if a number of players start beating Efren and they say they couln't have done it without their "special" chalk, then I might reconsider.

BTW, just because I'm one of those idiots doesn't necessarily mean I don't have anything better to do.

Wasn't talking about you. Sometimes when I make comments it's a general one made to apply to whomever wants to claim it.

The people whom the comment fits like a custom made shoe know exactly who they are.

I guess if you're an idiot, you have a LOT of company. As of this post, 77.88% of voters on this poll are in your corner. That speaks volumes!

I mean, c'mon, $25 dollars a cube :killingme:??? Ridiculous :(!!!

Snake Oil Salesman for $1.00 a bottle ( watered down whiskey ) & cost 5 cent to make , Ocean Front Property in Arizona, ect.....

I miscue maybe twice a year with Master Chalk, with mega hours of play, then it was my fault for not dressing the tip when needed.

If you pay over 50 cent for a cube of chalk your on DOPE!:sorry:

Whats with this marketing strategy? John (Kamui USA) must have come up with it because he is a complete imbecile.

Pre order Kamui chalk, but you have to come to Las Vegas to pick it up.

Its like, "We have something and you can't have it unless you suck our bums".

This whole marketing strategy isn't a strategy, its FKing retarded and it will come back and bite them in their little bummies in time.

So what, we are creating threads and talking about it. Big deal. Most of us are laughing about it.
10 people cave in and buy a piece of chalk. OOOOOO, mission accomplished. High fives for everyone, we made $250.

This crap is going to get knocked off within a year anyway.

Worth Discussing

I am not really a hater or even really insinuating anything or making any accusations.

But I am saying it is worth discussing weather Kamui chalk is worth 150 times what I pay for master chalk?

Keep in mind I have never even seen Kamui chalk much less tried it... this is why I am asking people about it.

Several parallel threads have mentioned that this product in their opinion isn't chalk that it is some sort of sticky stuff, adhesive or a clay ect. should we be concerned?

No users of Kamui chalk have even approached my question about the possible issues with new materials changing the game in radical ways. Is Kamui chalk a change akin to aggregate vs. phenolic balls?

Is it really so great that it is worth 150 times the cost of other chalks and if so is isn't it something we should talk about.

Will we all miss the days before the adhesive chalk movement?

Every sport is affected by technology and sometimes it is not for the better.

If I were single, I would totally buy Kamui chalk.

Let's face it, nothing says, "check out my fat wallet, ladies", like a shiny new piece of Kamui chalk dangling from the chalk holder that's hanging out of your back pocket.

I knew 50 cents was high for chalk, I found Masters online by the gross ( 144 pieces) for $23.00, Free Shipping , that's 16 cents a cube, I'll go with the Masters, and use a scruffer!

Irving Crane, Steve Mizerak, Willie Mosconi, etc ........ the list of greats goes on and on ....

When I reach their level of play and feel I'm at a stone wall for improvement, that's when I will try the $25 chalk. Until then, no need to waste the money, since they didn't seem to need it.

Yhanks

It may be a little higher than 77.88%. I never voted, but I will now!

Thanks, Mike

Just noticed the title. Checked the keyboard and was glad to find that only missed the T by one key. Not bad for no sleep.
