Kamui Chalk on Ebay. $76.00 and climing!

Lets just say Kamui's marketing strategy was successful :)

Maybe. Forgetting all the other markets and just going with the North American market, than for example if they can sell 10 cubes per week at $25.00 each but would only be able to sell 100 per week at $2.50 each yes that would be a success. Same money while making less chalk = successful. However if they could have sold 1000 cubes per week at $2.50 each then this is a mistake.

I myself got a whole case (50pcs) of Blue Diamond chalk from Atlas Billiard Supplies for less than this one cube is selling for so I am good on chalk for a while.

There is also the possibility that Kamui has a few "shills" on eBay to bid up the price of the chalk in orer to add to the hype.

Legal Disclaimer: Of couse we have no way of knowing for sure, and all this is just my opinion.

That is not kamui, they are just someone that has some of the chalk and cut and pasted from the kamui website.

Its also possible that the chalk is being bid up by aliens who have mistaken it as Kamiu, the outer space alloy they use to power their spacecraft.

absolutely

no chalk is worth more than 1.00 each..and that is high I will stick with my old faithful Masters Chalk...I chalk each shot. it is habit. so no need for chalk that does not need chalking as much, eventually you will miscue because the chalk wore off... IMHO

KRAZY....

it is funny looking if you click on the bidding history there is only 2 bidders.

Even funnier looking to me is that unless I'm misreading it, the first bidder kept upping his own bid from $26 to $50. Doesn't pass the smell test.

EDIT: I don't know, the times are all wrong. I guess I just don't get the bidding history thing. If the 2nd guy came in with a bid of $55 at 7:58, what are all those lower bids that came in after it?

Yes, and on an auction being run by what appears to be a Kamui (shamui) representative. Both bidders are also "0" feedback (Shill?) bidders. I'm calling bullshit here!

The times are right, that's how eBay works their proxy bids. Not saying anything about the bidders and I'm still sticking to my alien spacecraft theory, however in the last 90 days there have been 25 closed auctions for one cube of Kamui chalk ranging from 29 to 57 dollars. Those space aliens might be in dire need this week (either that or that huge corporation is committing fraud by shilling their own product, or maybe, just maybe, some guys really want it).

So the proxy bids by the first guy show up only after the second guy puts in his higher bid, and all the incremental bids show even though they are less than the second bid?

In regard to your possible theories, I note the guy has only one other item for auction right now - a Kamui gator tool.
