Kamui Tips

If you guys don't mind, who is the cheapest supplier for the Kamui tips?
I was in contact with Kamui twice and they keep referring me to a Canadian distributor about 300 miles from me.
I was in touch with him and truthfully I can't and won't pay his asking price for tips.
I imagine that they are trying to protect his territory and they are doing a great job of it.

The Kamui guy suggested that I should be charging $50 to $60 per tip in order to justify the distributors high prices.
Are you kidding me, there isn't a player in my city that would pay that for any tip without getting a reach around in with the deal.

I stock Talisman, Everest, Sniper, Wizard, Moori and a host of other cheaper tips for my customers. I get decent prices on all of these and I can pass a little of my savings on to my customers. I'm not about to try and start hooping my friends and customers just to stock one particular brand.
I'm not trying to be a cheap ass either. I know its an expensive hobby and I spare no expense on other cue supplies, tools and related equipment. Its just that I'm allegic to KY jelly.
Thanks.

Atlas is a good source for Kamui tips. I believe koinkid (Troy) on here sells them also! Kamuitips.com I think his name is John. is another source. I deal with Atlas the most on these!

There is only one source for Kamui tips and that is John Bertone.
John is the distributor of Kamui tips for US and Canada.
All the big suppliers, Atlas included buy from John and can not sell them bellow the wholesale, if they do, they will loose the ability to sell Kamui tips.
Not sure what are the prices you are getting in Canada but there is only one authorized distributor in Canada. John is the supplier for that agent in Canada.
Anybody in the cue business like repair men, cuemakers, etc can sign up for a wholesale account at Kamuitips.com
John actually prefers cuemakers to buy directly from him.

Koinnkid sells them for the exact same price as John but has free shipping which saves 6.00 an order. Also, I always have my tips from Koinnkid in two days, three at the most but the last time I ordered from John it took over 3 weeks for them to arrive. That was both the first and last time that I'll ever order from him.

Signing up on the Kamui site was the original problem.
I couldn't sign up and when I emailed them about the problem, instead of fixing the problem, they referred me to the Canadian dealer.

I PMed John thru AZ and same thing, a referral back to Canada.

Thru a few PMs, I have found that the tips can be had cheaper than what was offered to me from the distributor. His prices weren't as expensive as
say what was listed at Atlas but still more than I knew they could be had for.

At his prices, buying 2 of each hardness in both the brown and black, I could have purchased 2 1/2 boxes of any other box of 25 of any other brand and even more in some cases. Can you imagine buying 2 1/2 boxes of Everest (12 per box), more Wizards or Talisman than it would have cost me for 16 Kamuis?

Anyway, problem solved, thanks guys, I appreciate the help.
Terry.

I could not agree more with you Dick and I will start doing the same thing.
I am very good friends with John but there are some "extra charges" and you know what I am referring to that I do not agree. The money we make on replacing tips is already so tight that the extra charges do not help.
For me sometimes is more like a convenience since only takes me 1 day to get my tips from John since he he is in California as well. Toy is awesome to deal with with, no doubt about that.

They cannot ADVERTISE below msrp. My price at Atlas is the same I get from John.

I got screwed one time on a large purchase from Troy (Koinnkid) and will never buy another thing from him again. Beware.

Well Mr Hoppe, not sure what happened with you and Troy. But I had once one shipment that got lost and Troy sent me the replacement right away. I can't complain. Troy is also a friend and a good person. Just wondering if you ever tried to make good and peace with him.

i will never deal with John again either.along with being slow on shipping and over-priced he has actually tried ruining Kamui tip sales for other dealers more than once.if he gets rid of all the other Kamui tip dealers which is i think what he tries to do,then i will no longer use Kamuis period.

i have always gotten Kaumi tips cheaper than his lowest price,i won't say where i get them now that John messed up Cyrus's tip sales, but i will say he does hand around here amd he is cheaper and better than John.

it's a shame that Kamui is actually affiliated with John and hopefully his tactics won't damage the good Kamui name.

I am following the rules set by the manufacture. When others are not following the rules and selling the product based on "price" not "value" the perceptive value of the Kamui brand is lost. Once a buyer knows a lower price will they ever buy at the higher? No. I can tell you this, those who are selling at the lower price is only the difference of what? a couple pennies? COME ON! what you have done saving a couple bucks is supported someone who does not care about you or your business or the growth of the Kamui brand. They are out to make a quick buck. This thread is rather very silly in my opinion. Pick up the damn phone and talk to me if you have a problem. 877-GO-KAMUI.

The business model of the Kamui™ Brand is to become a large brand that is here to support YOU with excellent HIGH quality product.

For those of you who do not purchase from me.... I never intended to "burn the bridge" I am here to help your business grow. HOW? you may ask? The banners, Auth. Business cards, and unlimited time on the phone with me to help brainstorm to help you. And other stuff I am working on. AND, a few months ago, I set up an "exchange" program. Exchanging your "old" Kamui Tips for the New Kamui Tips. Guess what! Who would do such a thing! I did so you would not be sitting on old product... =money on the shelf (how many old money tips are sitting on your shelf?). I am sitting on well over 2000 tips that I can not sell. I put my interests and personal growth on the line once again for YOU. And this Christmas I put off seeing my family in Austin because I do not have enough to buy a plane ticket. Today, I found out my father is very ill.

BTW.. Mason, continue to support those who do not follow the rules, I will find them and they will lose their distributorship. How many OLD tips are you sitting on? Do you have the "Value" of John Bertone(ME) and the Kamui Brand to help you grow your business? YOU STILL DO Mason.

Keep bashing me for protecting you.

The reason why I charge shipping... 2 reasons,
#1 I personally drop off your package at the Long Beach airport terminal.
#2 Would you rather I make you buy a minimum? Those who are not charging shipping is losing money and they do not realize it yet.

About the price increase from Japan... I figure I should bring up this topic since it will come up, I am sure. The Value of the USD to Yen is in the toilet. Kamui Japan can not develop and run a business and forced to raise the price. I had the opportunity to raise the price more, so I can make more. I didn't. I would not feel right sleeping at night. All of my piers told me to raise the price by a full $1...

As for the slow shipping. At times I get hit real hard from orders and left without enough to fulfill new orders... The average "wait" has only been 10 - 14 business days. A situation that is out of my control. And this next year I will be focused on having more in stock. Why do you have to wait the last minute to order? (2-way street) At any given moment I have an order with Japan for inventory.

I just wonder how things would be if I sold direct to the player for any price. It took me 7 years to build this brand WITH YOU! Do you think it is finished growing? I don't... ;-)

Fight for your pennies. I will still be here in my 1 bedroom house and junkie old '92 Toyota truck in Long Beach, CA. And my family to feed.

When you "POINT" or "ACCUSE" get your facts straight first.

Thanks.

Support your distributor. He is there to help your business growth. I did not choose my distributors for willy nilly reasons. If you buy a tip from your distributor and can not sell it you can return it. If there are any problems with the satisfaction of your customer, Make your customer happy.. Send back the used tip to you distributor. He will replace it free of charge.

How do I know this? I offer this guarantee to all my customers.

i am sitting on zero old tips and i will continue to use my regular suppliers who according to you don't follow the rules.not sure what that means but they are fair and honest and timely, which is all i really look for in a business transaction.

after you rat out every Kamui tip dealer that sells cheaper than you and you are the only one left,i guess i will go back to Moori, even if you lower your price to $8.50 per tip.that is your MO right John?you promise guys a better deal, get them on the phone and when you can't give them a better deal, you casually ask who they get them from and then call Kamui and rat out that Kamui distributor for selling them too cheap.nobody likes a rat John.

Kamui probably doesn't have a clue that you are actually hurting them in the long run with your "business ethics",but i bet one day they will.

I am the rat? You told me.

i told you in a private phone call b/c you asked me,i had no idea you would hang up the phone and call Kamui specifically to get the distributor in trouble.i didn't understand how the Kamui distributorships worked didn't realize my guy would get in trouble.

my telling you was a mistake, you reporting him to Kamui was malicious.

i should have known better you're right but unfortunately i trusted you.never again.

i guarantee you will never find out where i get them now and yes,it's still $1.50-$2 plus cheaper than you per tip by the tin and several $ cheaper just buying 5-10.

i'm done here guys, sorry for ranting in your thread Blue Hog,but what this guy did left a real bad taste in my mouth.

I am not defending anybody here but Mason, you are missing something here my friend...
John is not a dealer... He is the US, Canada and South America Kamui distributor. All other distributors buy from him... I understand the issue with price but like anybody else and other brands he is trying to protect price and value. I don't know about you but I charge $35.00 to install a Kamui tip. Just saying Mason.
