I was wondering if there was anyone here that could help me with a question that i hae had for quite a while now. I shot with a friend of mines Keith Josey pool cue for the first time around 2 1/2-3 yrs ago and I noticed a different feel that it had. I cannot explain the feel that I'm talking about though. I guess maybe it was the feel of feedback? I'm not sure. I have shot with several different cues that shot very very good however I am unsuccessful in finding one that has the feel that I'm talking about. I've currently shot with mcdermott, meucci, mike stacey, predator, falcon, besides the josey and I love how mcdermott shoots and i love how the mike stacey shot but they didn't have that different "feel". Is what i'm talking about feedback? Ive came to the conclusion that it might have been the radial pin and the taper and the ferrule and tip that Josey uses that give his cues that feel i'm talking about. Also, the Josey that i shot with didn't have any lacquer on it, no coating at all of any kind but I doubt that has anything to do with it. If anyone can tell me if any other cues feel like Josey's and if it has to do with the radial pin or his taper or what exactly that feeling i'm describing is. I have a few hundred dollars and I really want a cue that has that hit, I just don't know of any others that might have it. Maybe cues with a radial pin or something? Maybe it's a stiff hit yet the fact that it also provides alot more feedback than most stiff hitting cues? Another thing, the guy had an ob1 shaft on his josey, I just remembered but I don't think it was the ob shaft b/c if i'm not correct, i used it with the normal josey shaft also....or now that i think about it I think maybe the normal josey shaft was cracked, crap I can't remember but if anyone can help me and knows what i'm talking about, I would appreciate sooooooooo much b/c my journey in finding that "feel" would be over. Thanks! Adam

If you know what you want, even if you can't articulate it, you're ahead of many cue buyers. You're also free to make a purchase that reflects your own preference...free of the "helpful advise" of others who have their own opinions and sales motives.

Josey makes a great cue. Save your cash and go to a show. Hit with a few dozen cues and buy the one that feels right...just like the one that got away 3 years ago. This time, don't snooze. Everything has a price, when you find what you want, don't compromise.

In direct reply to your block of questions, respectfully, you are on the wrong track and pursuing those answers will lead you in circles. Choose any joint, wood or other specific characteristic of a cue...even choose the original perfect Josey you spoke of... and change the tip...it will hit differently. There is no formula for the perfect hit.

Lastly, stay realistic. Have the right priorities about playing well. I think the best hitting cues in general are by Bill Schick and Barry Szamboti. That doesn't change the fact that the best pool I ever played was with a Mike Webb cue.

Genius has many names. Find the right cue by experimenting yourself and listening to your own voice. Forget other's opinions, let the performance of a cue, in your hands, do the talking. Then find your best game by practice, not gear.

I can't go to any show any time soon so I won't be able to test a bunch of sticks out. Can anyone tell if there are any cues out there that hit similiar to Josey's. The feel I'm talking about is just the feeling of shooting with a Josey. There has to be some people out there that know what that is. Now some of ya'll that have shot with every cue made hundreds of times, do any cue's feel like josey's? Nice solid, stiff hit that still allowed alot of feedback from the cue ball. And does anyone know where the balance point on Josey's cues are at? Thanks

Get yourself a Josey, then. But, if you need to know of one with a comparable hit, I'd recommend an Olney. Overall, however, Drawman has given you sound advice.

I test hit a friends Josey cue and I thought it was front weighted and that was what made it feel different.

just my opinion

I have an older Josey that has been my regular playing cue for years now. I also love the way it hits and like you I can't explain why. I've changed tips so that isn't it. I just happen to like the way he makes cues. We are fortunate today to have so many good cue makers. Like Drawman said, you just have to hit balls with a cue to tell if you like it or not.

I don't want to play with anything but my Josey, the hit is amazing. I take my Bob Frey with me when I am out of town, and I like it also, but not like the Josey. Go to the website and get one, the sneakys go for a under $300.

thats a lotta red there...what'ya do to offend?

what do you mean by what'd I do to offend? Sorry, sometimes i missread things on the internet b/c there's no way of knowing how someone is meaning something. :) but I don't think I did anything to offend anyone, at least I hope I didn't.
