Keith Mcready!!

Just about every sport I have followed over the years had more than their share of players playing drunk or on drugs before testing started. Including NFL, MLBB, NBA, Golf, boxing, tennis, track, hockey, and many more. They ALL seem to doing weell today. Johnnyt

If you ask me it the ones that turn a blind eye to that behavior that are the real cowards.

How many threads have you read in your life about "what is wrong with pool" or the image of pool?

Well someone just told you and what happens you pile on them with name calling.

So while you may not want to admit it or simply choose to ingore it, it is in fact true and the reason many have faded.

Cowards?? come on!!

Pool got its image from the pool rooms of the 40's 50's 60' and early 70's , they were gambling halls period. If it wasn't for the Keiths of the 70's and 80's things like this forum would not be around because pool would be forgotten.

The unwritten rule in the pool world - "RESPECT" for your fellow player. To come on the forum and personally attack one of our true icons in our little world is totally disrespectful, period.

I'm sure this was not the direction the original poster had in mind. How 'bout talking about Keith's incredible talent???

He does have incredible talent, more than most can even imagine, but you know what, I'll let Keith's cue do his talking. He'll be back soon enough.

Meanwhile, I'll let the forum trolls and haters on the Internet continue to have their fun. Their life would be meaningless without it.

Keith McCready can look at heights beyond their gaze. His spirit will always soar, and nobody will ever be able to take it away from him. Needless to say, my opinion differs than some about Keith.

The haters who frequent forums can only gaze at heights in front of them on their monitors. Keith, on the other hand, can entertain a whole convention center full of people with his cue stick. He will always have an air of freedom unconquerable, something Internet trolls and haters can only read about on the forums.

Say what you want about Keith MacCready, but whether you like him or not, he IS an American original! Just as much as John MacEnroe, Barry Bonds, John Daly, Allen Iverson, or Deon Saunders. I've known Keith since he was a stringy haired teenager who refused to back down from the best pool players in the world. It's only too bad he didn't have a bigger stage to showcase his talents. If he had, he might have become a superstar too.

Of all the pool players I've seen in my life, Ronnie, Keith and Louie had the most charisma and star power. Everybody wanted to watch these guys play, even if two "champions" were playing on the next table. No question Keith had immense talent (and probably still has) at pool, but he had something else too. Keith had crowd appeal! Pool could use a dozen more just like him. Unfortunately there is no mold for people like Ronnie, Keith and Louie. That's why they are American originals!

Who's close today? Alex, and that's about it.

I think in twenty years, we will still talk about Keith and
the game he played. I think that his name and pool go hand
in hand.

It just sickens me this type of attack on someone.

The poster was off base and you defending him is no better.
mrs.g

And you turning a blind eye is NO better and while picking Kieth out may not have been the best it is in fact the reason MANY have faded and that is what the OP was asking.

WOW that would be great. hey jam if keith comes back playing ,one of the most talented players ever. I was watching one of his matches a few years back and he was putting on a show. an older fella said to me wow that guy looks like hes playing so good it is a thing of beauty gliding around the table he was in the zone big time.the guy with the negative comments think about it he must have a bad life and trying to bring others to his state he probably cant make 3 balls in a row .ps keith if you want to play in a qualifier july 20 th at cosmos.in pa I got the entry.:grin-square: kent . and the best thing to happen to pool was the movie color of money its a fact.

Wow...what we are talking about here is manners! Apparently runout isn't the only one without them. You ramble off like, "Emily Litella" in a tangent about reality.

So you would be the one to walk up to a chemo patient in a hospital and say, "Your dying of cancer, when ya think your gonna croak?"

Your that much into reality that common sense doesn't prevail that you mind your manners?

And this has what to do with Pools image or the OP?
Pool has for a long time been considered "seeding" and this type of behavior does it NO good. It doesn't make one ounce of difference what all those non seeding sports do nor does it have to do with the OP.

The question was why they have faded not how good they were or are.
There is no question KM was one , if not, the BEST ever. But I also believe if he had lived another life style he would still be. And again this is what the OP asked.

Quit being a groupie and deal with reality.

No it wasn't what the OP was asking. You twisted the wording to your own liking. What he was saying is he wants to see more of them competing.

Pii you and Emily Litella must be one and the same!

It certainly is not your fault. I appreciate your kind words about Keith.

I don't understand why there is such hatred in this pool world, but I am finding more and more that there are quite a few who seem to derive pleasure from posting mean-spirited words, to include untruths. For whatever reason, that is forum culture, I guess. There's some good pool folks on this forum, to include you. :)

I don't think it is the pool world. I think this type of thing results from the confluence of two things: A Forum (i.e. place to be speak and be heard) and Anonymity. As soon as accountability is out the window people sometimes think they have free license to be insensitive. Don't take it to heart, JAM. We are all part of a big pool family and, like regular families, sometimes we have issues and arguments...

...and sometimes people need to be grounded!

Do everyone a favor:

- read the written words carefully.
-deduce all the possible options of what they might mean.
-type carefully your response.
