Keith Would have Crushed Them

So, are we now down for a Bartram/McCready action challenge? I will open the window for this one. Can't divulge which side I like though.

on a 9 ft alex would rob a 23 year old keith.
wow not even close.

I disagree. NO ONE would rob a 23 year old Keith on any table. Sorry to say, he would be giving you weight!

Chris, you had all the breaks. After the first match, the game changed. Liljon staked both sets.

In fact, I specifically remember Danny B. came up to me on the rail and said, "Jennie, I hate to tell you this, but Keith and Liljon don't have a chance to win with Chris getting all the breaks." This is how the match started, Chris.

Suddenly, I have visions of this: http://forums.azbilliards.com/member.php?u=7984
not true i gave them the 8 ball.
danny told you they have no chance because i play even with him not many people knew that.

I do not care to engage in further colloquy with you.

You and I will just have to disagree about the spot. We both have a different memory of what took place. I know what Kid Delicious said to me. I remember it VIVIDLY. The spot changed the second set for sure.

Enjoy the forum. It sure is an inviting place for pool players to hang out on. It seems to suit you well. :)

The reason I asked is because Keith gave those guys huge spots (the 7, the 6) and beat them.

Yet you want to play them even (even though it is ten ball).

Wondering if Keith would have tortured you in his day giving you the 7 but probably would have done it giving you the 6.

A little story about Keith. When he was a kid, the Mexican players ruled the bar boxes. Big Sergio, Mario, Little Al, Tracy Joe, Al Nicaraugua, Lumphead, all great bar table champions. Many big table champions went down and tried to mess with this crew and got handed their heads.

Along comes Keith McCready. At age 18, they began to let him in the bars. By age 19 he had his first pool nickname, given to him by the Mexican contingent.
"El Diablo" was what they called Keith. The Devil! He beat all these bar box champs and then he gave them a spot (usually the eight) and beat them again, and again and again. Keith ruled, I'm a witness!

How can you be sure? Did you see Keith play when he was 23?

Keith in his hey day probably would have beat Bartram giving him the 6 playing 9 ball. I base this on how I am told of Keith's speed in his prime and how I know Bartram's speed is today.

I love threads like this and discussions like this. You will have discussions like this in pool as well as other sports. To me, Joe Montana is the greatest football player that ever lived. That is my opinion. It doesn't make me an idiot for thinking this and I would respect if someone had a difference of opinion. I can listen to their opinion and give facts to back up mine. My opinion is based on what I have seen. I did not see Johnny Unitas or Jim Brown play so all I can do is look at their stats and their championships. They might have been better than Montana but it is hard to guage different eras when the game also changes over time.

The same goes for pool. I would think that the majority of the posters on this board did not see Keith play in his prime. Even those that were old enough to be involved in pool then, might not have even gotten the opportunity to see him play. So for the posters that are younger, it does not make them dumber. If you watch an Alex or a Dennis Orcollo play, it is hard to think that someone would have a higher gear.

That being said, in the same respect, for anyone that saw Keith play in his prime and want to compare it to an Alex, SVB, Corey or Bartram - it is just as fair that you should be able to state that you have seen these players play in the past 3 years. If you have not, then it would be just as hard for you to make a comparision, unless you are doing so blindly.

Chris, I know how much you love pool and how much you respect the great players. There aren't too many who play your speed.

It's a shame you never got to see Keith in his prime (age 18 to early 30's). He went through a tough rack, like a hot knife through butter. Even you would have been impressed.

Nobody, not even Alex, had the pure natural talent of this guy. Shot for shot, maybe the best player to ever hold a cue. And he could do it all with the money on the line, under extreme pressure.

I guarantee you one thing, if Keith ever had a guy 22 games stuck (like SVB against Alex), you could put a fork in them. Once he got you stuck, you stayed stuck. It WAS like a nightmare, it only got worse.
