Granted, the guy is exactly like Fatboy scamming people. You feel the way you do about Fatboy as you do him?
Nobodies arguing this point. Noone's ever tried to do what he did for pool for that kind of money..case closed
Nope, because Fatboy is still involved in the pool scene. People will treat him differently regardless of how he made his money.
When the IPT was first announced I googled this turd's name. I read all about his troubles with the FCC. I thought well here we go. Crap.... He stiffed players and vendors and got everyone's hopes up for nothing. But alas pool is a game so no real harm done. Trudeau is a sack of goat shit dipped in vomit not for his transgressions against the pool world but from his willingness to defraud people who have cancer and other serious illnesses. He has shown the ability to prey on the sick, weak and desperate. For that he should go to hell.
Trust me mnorwood a lot of people in the medical community could give lessons to Kevin Trudeau about giving bad advise for personal gain to people with serious illnesses, and cancer.
I call it treatment for profit that have zero chance in hell of working. But supporting a lavish lifestyle to many doctors with only one thing on their mind billing insurance be if for cure, hope or just profit. MONEY
Last we should all blame or thank Mike Siegel who pitch the idea of the IPT to KT. too bad it was not a success.
Well cowboy doctors get people to take treatments that don't work, but those treatments are based on scientific processes that lead them to believe that they might actually work. That's what experimental treatments are all about. Some of the money doctors take for these treatments go back in to research to find treatments that do work. Trudeau on the other hand published snake oil crap that has never worked and none of the money he made went back in to any research for something that does. I would rather roll the dice on some experimental treatment at a hospital like MD Anderson than some BS nonsense from a conartist like KT.
I just watched the 20/20 segment. Wow, "Mega Memory"! I remember being a teenager in Houston in the mid 80's watching Trudeau's infomercials about his memory program. There was a weird infomercial fad for a few years where a half-dozen guys hawked memory programs. I never bought any but was interested enough to go into a book store and for $4 buy a memory book written in the 1950's. I applied it's techniques for at least a decade, helping me remember things like engineering constants in college. I imagine Trudeau's program (which probably cost 10x my paperback book) was just warmed over techniques known for decades. The guy is an obvious charlatan; i just wonder what got him into producing pool tournaments. It's hard to imagine he made a profit from it.
Go listen to Runout Radio #14 on iTunes for another tall tale of big money coming to save professional pool, via the NACPBA. As you listen keep thinking "again, how are these guys going to make a profit?"
Mr. Dayton...Since you seem to know, please tell us where he "took money out" from? It was free to join the IPT (if you wrote a good essay, and got "picked"), although he did run a series of several "qualifiers" where he made some $$$ back in exhorbitant entry fees. AFAIK, there were no entry fees for any of the IPT main events. I don't believe KT made much (if any) money off the tiny bit of tv airing he got...and the "publicity" was all free (even though much of it was 'bad'). Add to that, he had expenses out the yingyang (tv, security, administrative, event host fees, etc...some which were paid, and some which weren't). So just where did this apparently huge sum KT "earned" (before paying the players) come from?

Trudeau is no saint, and he did screw the players, in terms of making them wait 2+ years to get paid...but he never made serious coin off of this endeavor (he was trying to, by selling the tour to a Chinese billionaire...but that deal went south before he could do anything with it). I was just discussing this very issue with a student in FL today. KT's main problem was he tried to go too big, too soon. If he had just taken a million a year...split it up and added $100K to 10 events per year, he would have made money, the players would have made money, and there would be a legitimate pro tour today, with 100+ pros making $100K average. KT would have been a 'hero' to the poolplayers...even though he is still a con man! JMO.

I remember mentioning on this forum that KT was running a semi-ponzi scheme with the IPT. I got blasted. Then I offered 5 x on the money that within a year it would not finish good. Nobody took me up on it but I still got blasted.
My simple business rule is that if it's being sold too hard it's BS. His hyperbole about everyone making 100K a year and effectively paying legends to play so that it wrapped his tour in legitimacy was way to obvious. Look at his track record and rap sheet is evidence enough.
Anyone who would start a tour and let this guy in his stable can't possibly know pool or he simply wanted guys like him to believe in the dream and feed his feeder tour which is where he expected to bring in the revenue. When the dollars didn't flow in the man pull up. Leaving suppliers and others in the lurch.

I have to agree with you there, Russ! Unfortunately pro pool has always had it's share of scam artists, scumbags, and con men. As long as there is opportunity, there will sadly always be someone trying to "get over" on the players. Fortunately, we still have a few promoters like Mark, Jay and a few others, who are honest and forthright...looking out for the players best interests at heart (while still being able to squeeze out a profit...vital in any business other than philanthrophy).

Just remember not all Doctors are like Marcus Welby on TV, and not All Hospitals are like MD Anderson, or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Some physicians, and hospitals will suck ever dollar out of you, or you insurance company, or medical grants with no hope of helping the patient.
I kind of thought we would never hear of KT, and the IPT again, after it was 110% CLEAR. KT Screwed the Pool World over, and would never made good what he said he would.
