I just made my way through his book for the second time (I know, I'm weird, I like to re-read books) Anyhow, I never hear anything about Danny on this forum.

I'm suprised he's not on here barking to match up in the action room, or looking for some sort of TAR match.

Perhaps im too green to realize he just posts under an alias - who knows. But if not, does anyone know how he's doing these day's?

I wonder if there is anyway we can convince him to post on here if he doesn't. We've already got "The real Bartram"...wouldn't it be nice to have "The Kid Delicious" as well.

on a related note, since i have sufficiently exhausted my pool literature at this point, can someone let me know the best place to buy a copy of Pool Wars.

You guys rock,
Matt

Not gonna happen as long as there remains a million to one that the movie comes out!

Im like the guy from office space

Have you met him???

Nope, unfortunately my only contact with the legitamite world of pool comes through this site & forum and youtube.

I spend my days wasting away in a cube.

Perhaps the book is misleading, but it seems to portray him as a pretty kind and affable fellow. From what I've seen on youtube he plays as slow as anybody whos ever picked up the cue though. Is that why?

I've never heard anything but positive things about Danny Basavich. I would love to meet him and get some lessons. His videos are entertaining and have a lot of good information. I'm still amazed at how players with that kind of weight (and I don't mean handicap :p) can stroke the cue so pure.

Grumpy just stops by whenever there is a Danny thread to bash him. Grumpy is just that, grumpy... Danny is the most liked person I have ever been around. People don't just like him, they love him and can't get enough. His personality is just that infectuous. Dannys girlfiend posted here for a short while 3-4 years ago but got ran off by haters wanting to bash on Danny for his slow play and his weight. They're both better off for getting out of here.... That's really sad because Danny has a lot more to contribute than most other pro players because Danny is very gifted at teaching what he knows and explaining in a way that anyone can understand. Once upon a time he helped me enough that I improved by the 7 ball inside of a 3-4 month period and that was just from pointers in person and even some advice over the phone.

Grumpy, may you be eaten by a goat and shit off a cliff! Thanks JS, I love that line... lol

kid

danny is an absolutely great guy! he is very easy going, fun to talk to (he always has something funny to say), and really polite and good to all the kids that he deals with. oh and btw, he plays JAM UP pool too! he definitly is not in action like he used to be, and i cant actually say i know why. the next time i speak with him i will ask him why he doesnt post here or try to get in some of these action matches. there was a time that danny was about the best money player anywhere.

Too much stress...perhaps

The last time I spoke with him (end of last year, post heart attack) he said he's good for tournament's and lessons, but he thinks action might still be a little too stressful (my interpretation) but he does plan on eventually mixing it up again. You're are right about one thing, his personality is infectious. and he will answer ANY QUESTION YOU HAVE. Probably throwing balls on the table to show you 13 different examples. Super guy. He came through as an unknown several years back and took off our little spot for many $$$ before everyone pulled up and tried to steer him. I also took a few hours of 1 on 1 lessons and learned a ton. He really enjoys teaching and entertaining folks, and it shows. So what if he's slow and has a lot of routine, the guy can FREAK'IN PLAY!

Whoever doesn't like Danny has either:

1. Never met him

2. Lost a lot of money.

No other reason not to like that guy IMO

I had a sneaking suspicion

I was kind of thinking that Grumpy might have been alone in his opinoin. It seems strange to me that this forum puts up with people that would have the gall to put down or pick on somebody that has accomplished so much and has so much to give back.

I've spent the better part of 2 years reading the posts on this forum in my spare time at work, and it seems like a lot of pros and top players take un heeded and un warrented flack from bangers like myself. Why?? I kind of think what makes this forum so special is the fact that one can post a thread and maybe have the chance to then communicate with the true greats. I mean come on! Thats awesome!!

I play a lot of golf as well, and I can tell you that Phil Mickelson or Tiger Woods could care less about my inability to lag putt, or what I think of Arnold Palmers short game. However, on this forum, you could put up a thread about a great road player like Chris Bartram, or a legend like Keith McCready and you might actually get to hear from the person themselves.

Its struck me that this forum seems to be the last vestige or gathered trust of a game/sport thats unfortunately in decline. Either we all stick together, or we all figure out a way to sack the game of texas hold em.

Heres to Danny  I hope he's doing well.

well said Matt!

Everytime I see some jerk off trying to pick a fight with a pro or instructor, young or old, it makes my skin crawl. Too me , it basically tells me they think they are more important than this great game of ours. Not the fact that they are "questioning" something just the way they conduct themselves, the words they choose, always trying to phrase things in such a way as to continue the non-constructive side of the debate. You know, it wasn't that long ago where many of our regular topics were only learned if you were close to a top player or were there to see it. The Top players rarely dispensed info about how things were done. You had to watch and learn. There is no telling how many potential contributors have just said F**K it, it ain't worth getting involved" just because of the actions of some. Over and Over it's the same thing.

Haven't seen Danny in years but when he came through my neck of the woods years ago he was a wild nut and friendly!

I got Danny's book for my last birthday and all it did was piss me off.
Pissed me off that there weren't about 200 more pages to read. LOL.
You guys are lucky, I'd give my right arm to meet him, but then if I gave my right arm, I wouldn't be able to shoot pool anymore.

Most of the people Danny beat out of money still like him.... It was brutal when he was with you and you really wanted to leave a place because every single person would have to say bye to Danny and being himself he had to shake hands and wish everyone the best.....

Danny Basavich aka "Kid Delicious" - Great guy, great name and an excellent and entertaining player always! I miss seeing him at tournaments like the Open and DCC. He's a breath of fresh air in a sport that really needs it.

I have one thing to say - COME BACK DANNY!

Well Said Jay.

Hopefully Danny will start mixing it up on this sight a little bit. I know I would read his posts:thumbup:

I am on my way to your site for a copy of Pool Wars. Hopefully it comes on a weekend so I wont have to read it through the night during the work week. :D
