Kim Davenport commits a mortal sin.

woop woop

No doubt The California Kid is ridiculously underrated.

The turnout there is tragic! The hot score girl looks bored to death giving the score to the 3 viewers.

Great post Joey! Love watching Kim play.

Is Kim Davenport playing much lately? I don't think I have heard or read much about him recently.

Is he still a room owner/partner back East in the South?

He has/had such a solid stance, bridge and stroke devoid of any non essential motion. A real pleasure to watch such a model repeatable stroke and presence at the table.

Well dressed, professional demeanor and perfect hair as well.

Hope he is doing well. He had to overcome some major obstacles to his game in recent years. Setbacks that he appeared to approach with the same level of class that he has displayed for the many years of his strong career.

He sure was playing some great pool around 88 or 90. He is NOT under-appreciated with me, i'll tell you that... maybe with younger players?!

Go 4:40 or so.
Drops his elbow on a an easy 8.

Kim is probably the most under-appreciated player ever.
Great and pretty stroke!

I agree with you 100 %,Kims name hardly ever comes up when people talk about great players, well you know as i know ,Kim has everything that the top players have or had and then maybe more so,Mr .Davenport is and was at the very top when it came to the best players in pool,it seems in a lot of sports if a certain guy is quiet and keeps to his self,he is often over looked, maybe thats the case here!Kim could play with anybody in his time!

Thanks Joey. Always a pleasure to watch Kim. He is always smooth whether playing on a 9' or playing $50 a point Liability on 6' x 12 Big Bertha. Really underrated.

Kim stayed down on the ball better than anyone else! Just watch, not a hair moves until the object ball hits the pocket. SOLID!!!

Also, his Target Pool, which is hard to find these days, is maybe the best training tool ever.

Great and pretty stroke!

He has a great stance and was very serious when he played. Gambling for the cash- only the very top players (who where gamblers as well) would beat him (Parica,Keith, Buddy, Effren).

Jay--as far as gambling (during his prime) how would you rank him?

Kims name hardly ever comes up when people talk about great players

Whenever Kim's name is mentioned by great players, he is always treated with respect, both for his exceptional skills and for being a class act.

I lived in Modesto in the early 80s and was fortunate to see him play often at Ferroni's. Whenever he came in, we would cash in our tables and sit down to watch. It was fun to watch people come to Ferroni's to play with him. Table 1 was double shimmed and extremely difficult to play. Kim could shoot into those corners like they were buckets. His opponents would try to keep up with him, but wouldn't fully appreciate how tough that table was.

Kim would occasionally play in our weekly handicapped 9-ball tournament. I played him a few times and actually won once. I suppose the handicap might have had something to do with it (2 games and the 7 and the 8 in a race to 5). In essence, he had to run every rack to win a tournament. Still, he played in it to give us our only opportunity to play him.
