I went to Mr. Cues in Atlanta today and watched some of the Southeast Open Tourney that Tommy K. runs. There were alot of strong players there, but it was good to see Kim Davenport playing again. The last time I saw him play was during the Camel Pro Tour. He seems to be playing really well. At one time, he was subject to beat just about anyone.

It would be nice to read an update of the event, as opposed to a person's experience of seeing one pool player, out of many, named Kim Davenport shooting pool. LOL! Threads like this don't offer much by way of information. ;)

Maybe some California veterans will come on this thread and post up some Kim Davenport information, so that players who may not know Kim Davenport can learn more about him as a player.

Some readers may not be aware that Kim Davenport had his eye severely injured on a golf course. He was hit by a golf ball moving at a high speed, and it did a lot of damage. He wasn't able to play pool for a long while. :(

His wife, whose name I cannot remember, is probably one of the nicest pool player's ladies I have met on the tournament trail. Some players' wives either don't want anything to do with pool and even go so far as refusing to speak to anyone associated with pool. There are some pool player's wives who stay in the hotel room when a tournament is going on, so as not to have to speak to anybody associated with pool. In fact, they despise people associated with pool, UNLESS THEY HAVE MONEY, even though they are married or living with a pool player, sad to say. :o

Kim Davenport's wife is sweet and so very nice. I really enjoyed getting the chance to meet her. What a cool person she is. And she is beautiful as well. They say beauty is only skin deep, but this lady has it going both ways, inside and out. :p

It sure would be great to read about this tournament, an upate, as an example, or anything newsworthy associated with Kim Davenport. :)

Here's a picture I took of Kim Davenport (depicted on the right) with Keith in September 2006 in las Vegas.

Man, for someone that has such a cynical perspective about this thread, you sure had alot to add about Kim....and even a pic. Guess that should be expected from you though. ;)

I take it that Kim Davenport is the only well-known player who showed up for this event?

Yeah...him and 48 bangers :D Some of the other noteables are Hennessee, Stevie M., Stoney, TK, Benny Conway Jr., Jesse Middlebrooks and Jim Jennings. I know Kim and Stoney are still on the winners side. Sorry, I was playing one pocket for $100 a game and didnt get to watch every match....and I got home at 5:30am this morning.

"Cynical perspective"? I contributed to what I deemed as an unfruitful, for lack of a better word, thread about an American legendary player named Kim Davenport.

Leave it to you to find fault with the words I write on this forum. Guess that should be expected from you, though. You and I have had this dance before.

JAM,
No info here, just more questions.

Kim's injury was actually at a driving range (not a course); and there was question as to whether the ball-picker spit something at Kim injuring him. It would be nice to know the results of the legal wrangling.

His injured eye initially was blind. There were reports that he recovered some vision. It would be nice to know his current visual status, and playing level.

He was reported to have moved to Georgia to open a pool room with Johnny Archer. A professional friend of mine visited before it was opened; but was REALLY impressed with the facility and business plan. It sounded like heaven for the serious players in the area. It would be nice to hear a report from someone who has visited.

Oh yes, it would be nice to have world peace too, while I'm busy hoping.

enough already

I normally try to stay out of other people's thread. I usually only post or respond to posts when there is action involved, because this is my main interest on this forum. However, I do read many other threads and find them quite interesting at times. I always seemed to agree or partially agree with you JAM in the past. You always seemed to look on the bright side of things or at least seemed positive. Something has changed. It seems that you are ALWAYS hijacking peoples threads for what I perceive to be very petty reasons. This poster simply stated that Kim Davenport was at a tournament and was looking for some info on him. You decide to blast this as a useless thread. Wow! Who died and left you in charge??? I honestly would rather read about Kim Davenport being at a tourney than read about your 10,000th post. I have been biting my tongue for some time now when it comes to some of the comments and posts you have made recently. I feel like for quite some time, people have piled on you on this forum. Truthfully, I can't really blame them anymore. You seem to ask for it and maybe even relish in it. You have a lot of insight to offer, I just wonder why you want to continuously start arguments and take away from other people's thread. I apologize to the original poster as I hope (not looking good) that this does not turn into an argument having nothing to do with your original post.

I'm still the same person who posts on this forum. However, I won't stand down from attacks, much like you are initiating now, to which I will thereby respond.

Hijacking this thread? Give me a break. I contributed content to this thread.

I can understand that logic. I hope you do enjoy reading about Kim Davenport.

Now you are trying to attack me personally. I never once posted anything untoward about Southpaw personally, or you for that matter.

I'm with Billychips...I don't normally comment on this type of thing but after lambasting the OP for contributing no information (for what you termed a worthless thread), you go on to contribute no relevant information...unless you consider flaming the wives of other pool players (who are not a matter of interest in this thread) "relevant".

Back on topic, I'm happy to hear Kim is back in the saddle and apparently playing well. He's still on the winner's side per another poster.

The point of me mentioning other players' wives/girlfriends is to state how nice Kim's wife is. In case you didn't notice, I mentioned no names of wives and/or girlfriends.

Back on topic, I contributed much more content about Kim Davenport than you, Southpaw, or Billychips.

Please do not embellish for your own pontification.

Let's have a recap of what I did write:

If you are going to flame me, do it right or don't do it at all. Embellishments don't work when the posts are out there in black and white for all to read.

I think you are right, Williebetmore, about the driving range.

If memory serves me right, that picture above was when Kim first came back to the tournament scene after his eye injury. It was his first time on the tournament trail in a very long time. As memory serves me, he played well at that event. :)

First of all, I did not initiate an attack against you. I was simply expressing my opinion that you jumped on a member of this forum for no reason whatsoever, which you seem to be doing alot lately. I do not blame you one bit for not standing down when someone attacks you. Good for you, as you shouldn't. It seems though you are more and more regularly being the aggressor of attacks and I was expressing my distaste of it. Maybe I should have sent you a PM, but it is too late for that now.

I do not know what information Southpaw was seeking. I can guess that his intent was not to be slammed for making a useless post. I do not kniw the guy from Adam, as a matter of fact, I think he and I have had a disagreement in the past, so I am not coming to his aid, just making an observation.

As for your contribution to the thread, you absolutely did! I did not know the details of the eye injury and I appreciate your input. I guess all I am saying is that you could have done it without attacking the original poster, unless your intent was to start a "flame war."

If words were written about you and/or your loved one that have been written about me and mine on this forum, you would understand. Some of the attacks against Keith McCready were completely unwarranted. I have been called a groupie, a racist, and even told to suck [fill in the blank] in LIVE CHAT in full view of my pool friends, many of whom wrote to me privately to apologize for me having to read the words.

Sorry, Billychips, I won't stand down anymore from personal attacks. I didn't do a damn thing for you to call me out on this thread. It is your opinion, of course, and that's fine, but I feel you attacked me much more than any words I wrote to Southpaw.

Please re-read my words and let me know where I "slammed" Southpaw. Please do it now.

I didn't attack anyone. The only "flame war," as you put it, on this thread was initiated by you, and then followed by an embellishment written by Mosconiac, which I addressed previously in this thread.

Again, I will not stand down from personal attacks. I never attacked Southpaw, and I respectfully request you to show me where I did. The words are all out there in black and white.

I am the favorite person to attack on this forum. It ain't the first time, and it won't be the last. Frankly, I don't give a damn anymore. I don't want to go the U.S. Open this year, though I may have to. I'm getting real sick of this forum and having to write replies to posters like you.

I think you are blowing this WAY out of proportion. There are idiots on this forum as well as every forum in the world. You should just ignore them, not let them ruin your enjoyment of the forum or hurt your feelings. I was simply initiating my "attack" toward you to try and get you to lighten up a little. Like I stated before, you have really been on the offensive lately in this place. You have stated numerous times that you are tired of defending yourself against numerous attacks, and I do not blame you. However, instead of just ignoring them or going about your way, you seem to me to be initiating them now. That is what I don't understand. It was just an observation. I did not mean it as a personal attack toward you at all.
