Kudos to Tom Hay...

I had my friendly neighborhood cue repair person (Dave Ward of B&D Cues) install an Ultra-Skin (medium) tip on my Predator shaft.
I went to the pool hall this afternoon and on the first shot with the new tip I made a ball on the break (One Pocket, of course) and ran out.
Thanks Tom.

ultraskin

I installed a few ultra skin tips everyone seems to like them.
It is a relief to get a good tip without having to pay a arm and a leg.

kudos tom.

one other thing , tom is a great guy to work with .

one of the az good guys.

Most threads started these days about individual members typically involve some form of banishment.
Glad that this one is just about tips.
I have a dozen medium UltraSkins on my dresser...
UltraSkins are terrific tips, well thought out product by Tom.

Ultra skin layered tournaments

Tom Sponsors our monthly tournaments with $500.00 a month added to the 9-ball tournaments. On the First Sat. of each month. He started with a $1,000.00 added in Sept. These are held at Ultimate Billiards in Fl.

and Tom's site is www.layeredcuetips.com

I have been playing with his tips on 2 different shafts since Sept. and love them. No more Moori Or Kamui for me. Still not worn out.
Thanks Tom

Thanks guys, don't know what to say. Did someone start the Tom's dead rumpr again? I have actualy met people that said they went to Tom Hay's funeral and it was very nice. I just look at them and say, "yeah, I wish I could have been there, maybe next time."

Nice to see a good post. I have played a lot now with Tom´s tips and I have sold quite a few - great tips! And like you guys said, "great Tom".

I was just going to start a Kudos to Tom Hay thread, but the trampster beat me to it. Anyway, I just got the tips, so I have no review for them yet. However, I can say that Tom is one great seller who goes by the old school rules that begins with "the customer is always right".

I bought a 20 mix pack of his tips to try. I im in Lexington, KY and these tips shipped from Florida so shipping is about 2 - 3 days. I ordered them two days before Thanksgiving. When they did not arrive in a week, I contacted Tom. This is when you know you are dealing with good people. Tom has great customer service, period. We talked about it and he was very cordial about the lost shipment. I decided to wait a couple more days to see if they arrived. They did not and Tom asked if he should ship a replacement order. I agreed (I also offered to buy the other order for the same price, should it ever arrive) and he shipped it out Saturday morning and they arrived today. Can't argue with that. Anyone with this kind of service deserves to be commended. Tom's exact words were this: "Customer rules the world in my house." And he stands by those words.

Thanks tom! I can't wait to try the tips. They look top notch quality for sure. Anyone should feel comfortable doing business with Tom. The world needs more folks like him.

Cheers and thanks Tom!

P.S. I'm going to focus on this transaction, as this is the first decent turn the world has thrown at me in weeks. Got stuck $8k on a bad garage remodel (involving firing a contracter and a bunch of messiness), the day I ordered these my dog had to have $3200 worth of back surgery. Then last week I got sick and remain so. Then today, I come home to a $700 IRS bill. Swell...the worm has to turn sometime!

Hang in there, JL. As the Mommas and Papas used to sing. "It's always darkest before the dawn."
Tom Hay is a good guy to deal with. As a matter of fact, I think he ought to expand his line to include my Wonder, and Miracle cues.
Remember: "If your looking for a good cue it'll be a Miracle when you find one."

Ultra Skin Tip Incident!!

Well I put one of Tom Hay's medium Ultra Skin tips on my shaft the other day and went out the next day to play some pool. My initial reaction was,,,,,,,,,,,,,, this tip sucks! It feels dead just plain damn dead, kind of a dull feeling with a very dead hit. BUT I kept shooting with it just to be fair. Well, about 25 minutes later on a medium hit the damn thing flew right off the ferrule. Now mind you I have ivory ferrules with fibre pads. I had put the tip on with a new fibre pad and it left the ferrule with the fibre pad intact. SO when I got up the next day I thought I had better examine the failure. What I concluded was the glue adhered wonderfully to the tip and pad but not so well to the the ivory. THUS I concluded that I must have a glue problem and since I had used a different glue I was correct. SO I tossed that whole tip out and started out all over again with a new tip, pad and brand new fresh glue. NOW I went back out with a newly glued tip on and gave it another round of play and have come to the conclusion that your tips are great and play very well. The hit is crisp, solid and consistent. I've not noticed any issues with miscues either leading me to feel these are a great tip! I guess I learned two things, one Tom's tips are the real deal and fresh glue is a good thing!!

Thanks Tom!

A great testimonial, Quesports.

I have an Ultra Skin soft on the Mighty Lucasi and yesterday I played 6 hours and only mis cued twice.Which is very good for me. I use a lot of extreme english.

You shoot pool with your dresser?:eek::confused:

..How is it on drawer shots?:scratchhead:

Yes, I shoot pool with my dresser because I like to hide the cue ball, which requires a lot of drawer.
I thank Tom Hay for having enough medium UltraSkins available to make that happen.

Just aquired a few of these to try, which one would be close to a Moori M
Thanks

I would say go with a M, tried them all and they both stay in shape and play very well. Consistent.
I have some 3c friends that just love them and they do some serious damage to tips sometimes...

Best of luck

Hey Tom Hay,
Does that sound right , Tom? All I hear about you is good stuff, you must be the Man! The Tip man that is. If Tramp and Mike say good stuff about you, then you are surely the Man! I love to see people write good things about a person. Every time I say something good about someone I get bad responses. Look at how nice Mike and Tramp are, and you too Mr. Tom. Happy New Year to you and your family. I like this thread!!!
Many Regards,

I previously preferred Kamui black ss. I had a couple of Tom's tips installed a couple of months ago and couldn't tell any difference (good thing). I bought another cue a couple of months ago that I've been pretty much playing with exclusively that had a Moori black soft. Had to change it a week ago, went with an Ultraskin. Again, feels almost identical. Tom has great product, great price and is a great guy to deal with.
