Hello,
I know people will tell "try and you find out", but I don't know anyone has a Lambros.
I know very well how play and hit Cognoscenti cues, I play with a couple of cogs some years.
Now I don't have a cog and it's time to change cue, maybe came be to the old love(Cognoscenti) or try a Lambros?
I read very good words of Lambros cues.
What you prefer in a cog (or lambros) compared to a lambros (or a cog).
Which do play/hit/balaced better?

Thanx for the help

I am there with you on Lambros cues. I have not played with one, but it seems with his "new" joint is getting great reviews. It appears that the Lambros cues without this joint are tougher sells.

I have played with a Cog that played great, and Cog that played like a log. I imagine that this is probably true with most cues.

One of my best buds in Paducah owns the pool hall down there. He plays with a Cog cue that weighs like 15 oz, and has 14mm shafts...(he had Joey build it that way), and swears it is the best cue he had ever played with.

My point? Tough to suggest suggestive things like cues. I have found that if you CAN find a guy with a cue you are curious about that they will let hit some with it...Too bad you cant find one in your area.

Best of rolls,

Ken

I have a Lambros with an Ultra joint and one with 3/8 - 10 flat joint. both hit and play very well. I like the way the Ultra screws together, a feel thing.
have hit a few balls with a Cog, thought it played just as well.
both nice.

I don't think any Lambros with an ultra 1 or 2 are hard sells. They hit monsterous. The 3 (called ultimate instead of ultra) is very similar hit-wise, but I've found it somehow spins the ball better (using the same shaft/tip).

I think Cogs a great cues and they're sexy... but I think the Lambros just flat-out feels better hit-wise.

I've considered purchasing a Lambros but prefer a 11.75 mm LD shaft. I'm guessing OB or one of the others might have a hard time duplicating the Ultra Joint.

Mike makes his own LD shaft maybe he'd turn one down that small. Never hurts to ask...

Mike makes them. Order it with your cue.

Mike makes great cues and they hit very consistent. Highly recommended. Great person also, he have taught me a lot about everything about cues and he surely knows his trade.

He makes his own 11.75 ld shaft.

I have owned and played with both Cog & Lambros
Personally I thought played great However I did not like that the cue was 57 1/2"
(I thought the hit on the Cog was similar to playing with a South West cue)

Owned and played with at one time or another:
Schon
Predator
AE
Nitti
Scruggs
Black Boar
South West
Joss West
Gina
Tad
Cog
Lambros
ETC..........................

The Lambros IMHO has the best over all Feel & Playability

I had a cog and I had a chance to play with a friends' lambros.

Personally I like it when i can feel vibration and feedback to my hand. It helps me monitor my shots a little better (speed, control, etc). In this regard, I would say I like the hit of a Cog better.

To me, the lambros played very well, but the hit was a little more muffled. Like a scruggs sneaky, bender, or other nicer higher end custom. It was nice, but I personally didn't feel anything special beyond that.

I'd have to go Cog on this one between the two. The balance of those cues are very nice, but I prefer the cog because it had a bit more fwd balance.

What are the differences between ultra 1,2 and ultimate?

I recently bought a Lambros cue after years of playing with a Palmer cue. Never played a Cog so I can't give you a valid comparison.

However I will say that the Lambros has a very solid hit. I'm still trying to develop the feel that I have with my old Palmer but I would certainly recommend a Lambros to anyone. Very solid, well built cue. I don't think you can go wrong with one, if you don't like it they seem to sell fast on AZB.

Having hit with both, I'll chime in. I keep buying other "great hitting" cues and while many may have had a great feel, they just can't take me away from the lambros. I have played with a nice cog (although I know there to be some inconsistencies amongst them) it was a nice hitting cue- solid. I did not find it to be anything extraordinary.

That being said, the hit of the lambros is very hard to describe in words. It just doesn't have deficiencies. You can't say it is too stiff or not stiff enough- it's just right. Just move down the line of characteristics of the "hit" and a lambros seems to straddle the center.

I am soon in line for both Southwest and Hercek. Perhaps those can get my lambros out of my hands.

Do you use weight bolt on your Cog?

No weight bolts in the cogs. They were naturally balanced. Joe Gold only added weight bolts if you wanted a heavy cue (after giving you shit for wanting to play with a heavy cue :D ). The cogs i've played with range from 16oz-18.5oz.

And since I'm in Chicago here, I've had a chance to try other Cogs as well.
Prewarhero is right about minor inconsistencies between Cogs. Generally I've played with about 5 cogs, 3 ebony, 2 cocobolo. The ebony cogs seems to have more punch and hit to them since Ebony is a dense wood. I didn't care for the cocobolo ones.

I think the worst one was a 16oz chocolate cocobolo cue (felt like hitting with air), and my favorite was an ebony one with a kamui m tip.

If I were you I would try the Lambros Cue they play amazing (Espically with the Ultra Joint)

I have a couple of his cues and they play great
