Takes place end of Feb. Is there a way to find out who is playing?
With some top players not entering certain tournaments I want to know if this is worth going to see.

It's WPA sanctioned, so the 245 banned players that played Hanoi can't enter. Still, the recent Qatar 10ball offered ample evidence that a strong field can be assembled with or without them.

My opinion is that you won't be disappointed if you attend. I have always skipped the February proceedings in Vegas, but if attendance is the only way I am going to see some of my favorite players play in America, I might consider going myself.

Right now, it's as clear as mud. Who will sign on with Matchroom for 2025? Which non-WNT players will play at the US Open 9ball and/or the International? No idea.

I don't believe for a second they got a full field of 128, plus a waiting list! All the Predator PBS events the past 2-3 years were well short of 128, and from memory, were in the 60's of entrants.

Las Vegas Open serves as a warmup event the World 10-ball Championship, right? If I recall correctly the WC had been intentionally a smaller field than the LVO. But I do wonder if they can get closer to 128 with the proximity of the WC. Just hard to tell with the ban. I don’t think it’s selective. A lot of American names in the field I’ve never heard of.

Nope, it was moved to Vietnam for '25 later in the year.

Maybe by then Matchroom will have released a schedule, and we'll see if they scheduled something on top of it.

Not surprising. I haven’t read about that yet. Any sources I can dive into?

Nevermind, I found it.

They have 113 listed as playing so far, but they also say the entries are filled. They have a waiting list. How many got in because no Gorst, SVB, FSR, Shaw, ....? I don't recognize most of the names.

If Derby City is going to be the only time we get to see both Gorst and Filler in the same field on American soil in 2025, the Derby City Classic has skyrocketed in importance in the eyes of this fan.

You don't think both will be in US Open? Is Filler out-4-life from WNT? Surely not.

Not saying that. What I'm saying is that the 2025 Matchroom roster is not known yet, and whether all of those who choose not to sign (or are not offered a contract) will have the opportunity to play in the Matchroom majors is not yet clear.

As fans, we do not know for sure where things stand between Filler and Matchroom. Filler is probably the most exciting player to watch since Reyes, and the Filler/Gorst rivalry looks to be the greatest since Sigel/Varner, so it would seem to be of mutual benefit if Filler and Matchroom ironed things out, but each will do as they see fit.

Long-term, I'm sure Filler would like to play in the Matchroom events and that Matchroom wants him there, but in the short term there is some reconciliation needed.

even if he wasn't to have/want a tour card i think he could still play two MR majors

Considering the field and the prize pool I’d say this is one of most lucrative tournaments for 700 Fargos. What is not lucrative are the prices of Rio…

Why would anyone in their right mind stay at the Rio? Across the street at the Gold Coast, they are actually happy to see you and the food is not only edible but quite tasty and at reasonable prices. And they have real coffee, even that weird European expresso stuff.

Example: The last time I tried to check in at the Rio: After a 15-minute wait: "Go away. Come back at 6 and we might have a room for you. You should use the kiosk." At the Gold Coast, one person ahead of me in line, then a smiling desk person: "Hello, sir! Checking in?"
