I'm not sure why this thread turned out this way. My religious beliefs have nothing to do with the original post. It seems every post or thread I make is subject to some sort of ridicule. I guess some people would rather argue and antagonise unnessecary drama than have a civilised conversation that is on-topic with the original subject of the thread. I do notice that though they don't bother me in the slightest, they just get increasingly riled up

People who make a point of stating that they aren't bothered by something, are usually always bothered by that VERY thing.

But I can see that arguing this subject with you is like talking to a brick wall. I'm not gonna get anything intelligent back. So I'll leave you with this one parting thought.

The life you lived before becoming 'born-again' was something you chose to do. You may regret it now. You may not. I don't know OR care. But at that time, it was good enough for you. So if it was good for you then, why is it not good enough for the rest of us now? You didn't have a problem with it when you were immersed in it. So if you have a problem with it now, you should do your best to keep YOURSELF free and clear of it. Not try to convert all of us.

The thing is, I should not have to turn my avatars off. There are women who feel we shouldn't be objectified and find that offensive. This isn't the Maxim/Playboy forum. It's a billiard forum and women post here. I'm also at work where an image like that could be viewed as pornographic by an onlooker. I personally see it as borderline pornographic and would report it should I see something like that on an associate's computer screen. My last one with the seal was a joke. If someone found it offensive, I would have changed it had they let me know. I changed my signature when someone said they didn't like it, no question asked. My current avatar is based on a television show, Arrested Development. Another fav I've used was Kiefer Sutherland holding a cue at a pool table with the caption "What Would Jack Do?". That's my sense of humour.

I haven't been here for awhile, but I don't understand how this could be considered a contreversial thread. I was merely sharing an occurance that happened to me over the weekend.

I'm not saying you have to keep your opinions to yourself. I'm just saying don't expect the world to change just because you found God! Remember, your God and my God are two different entities.

Some people call it "finding God" others call it "growing up" and still others call it "maturing." But ultimately, I applaud those that recognize the path they were on and the path they want to be on are different. Some take longer than others.

And, IMO, if someone you know and respect had a core value shift, you should indeed make reasonable "changes" (or at least attempts to change) to accomodate the transition. It would seem that avoiding them trivializes their decision, ignoring the shift alienates them, and confronting them antagonizes them. At the same time, the person shifting positions should recognize that they will be in awkward and uncomforable surroundings more frequently until boundaries are established and roots take hold. They should tread lightly and recognize that some confrontation is inevitable, but should not be a spark for a feud to the death.

IMO, contradictions are temporal and are inherent. That is, they will seem more dramatic the nearer in time they are to a change since they are a departure from "old" behavior. As time moves on, they will be considered history or someone's "past" and not a contradiction. Lots of people have given up drinking or smoking, but that doesn't automatically make them contradictory.

It took me, and most likely most older folks, many apparent "contradictions" to evolve from who they were when they were younger into who they wanted to be - and who they eventually became. To fault anyone - or judge them - for developing into who they want to be is, IMO, improper and uncalled for. (If Tucker turned over a new leaf tomorrow, would he then be a walking contradiction?)

A critical eye has been focused on someone that needs support more than admonishment. It's hard enough to move forward in life.

Yeah. Especially since I have a pic in my PM inbox right now of Sweet Marissa laying naked on a bed. But I guess that's okay, right? Cause thats artistic. The seductive look she has on her face is in no way suggestive, pornographic, or anything like that! And seeing as how I got it as a result of it being posted on AZ a long time ago, I suppose that the image of her naked is MUCH more appropriate than some girl in lingerie.

Thank you. This is an excellent point. A woman in a teddy or even her bra and panties touching herself is suggestive. NOT pornographic. Appropriate? Thats open for interpretation. And while a woman laying nude on a bed may not be pornographic, its level of appropriateness is not as open for interpretation.

But you guys will see in time that Marissa is just one contradiction after another and posts for no other reason that to "hear" her own voice.

Personally, I think she's the female travis trotter.
