***Legends of the Road from P&B magazine***

Johnnyt...The article that mentioned Tom Shaw's book, said it was to come out the following year...that was 1999. I'm guessing something prevented Tom from publishing the book, as I have no recollection of ever seeing or hearing about it. I'm going to ask him in person, when I see him at the trade show in 3 weeks.

Thank you Scott, I missed that part. Johnnyt

maybe it has to do with collecting the rights to publish various stories.
Dealing with many for one book could be a long affair.

but i hope all this inspires his efforts in a good way do get it done asap !

Gary...I doubt that it would be that. He got those rights when he originally published the stories in P&B years ago. There has to be some other issue, but I'm gonna find out what. Those articles were, imo, one of the best parts of that pool mag, and I looked forward to reading every one, as they came out (as I'm sure you did too)!

Scott, has there been any update on Shaw's book? I'd love to have every one of those "Legends" articles. What's the latest?

Legends of the road

Copyright Laws can be a nightmare to understand, they have changed many times in the last 80 years and the only person I would trust with the correct answer would be a copyright lawyer with lots of experience. some were 50 years plus life of original owner, some can be renewed by heirs, etc etc lots of vague areas for the layers to work around in
at this point in time you do not even have to put a copyright on your work, you have x amount of years to file for one and if someone copies your work and uses it, all they have to do is prove they originated it and you lose. I think the fine was up to $50,000.00 per copy 15 or 20 years ago when I was researching. Some countries do not abide by copyright laws. As I stated in another post single copys made for personal use would probably never cause a lawsuit but if you make copies public or sell them you can be sued and once they show they own the material you lose. No maybe, no sort of ... you lose.
I typed this to help people and I know what usually happens when I do that.
