I'm opinion hunting on this one...I all ready have an opinion about em but this is a pretty knowledgable group as a whole so I may be swayed.

I've never worn one and don't see a reason I would need to. USUALLY the people I see wearing them aren't very good. Personal opionion, I think they look goofy.

Ouch. I've seen some REAL strong players wearing them, but the names escape me at the moment. I'm old and tired;)
Never tried one, myself.

My favorite glove is made from a biker's leather glove, with plenty of holes in it, and the pinky and ring fingers cut off, as well as the tips of the middle and forefingers.

Looks kinda mean. Wear that sucker and you'll get comments like "that looks sinister"...

Definitely not the glove for pansies, or guys who don't like power shots!

To the OP...you need a column to check for people who use them as needed...like myself. I keep one in my case, to use when I am doing an exhibition somewhere the humidity is overwhelming. There are several top pro players that wear a pool glove. They are neither 'gay' or 'goofy looking'.

Earl Strickland and John Schmidt come to mind. If wearing one guaranteed you'd make every ball, we'd all have 6! :D

I have one in my bag and will wear it if the humidity is unbearable.

and how the stick feels

A better word for "and" would have been "or"...that was the intent as i asked it anyway.

Maybe some mod will fly by and fix my butchered poll lol.I can't edit it.

Wanna spook someone? Play 'em for something, barely beat 'em, get 'em to up the bet, and slip a glove on... see if they notice...

If you play ANY better with the glove than without, get ready for the "you're a frickin' hustler" comments.

Shoot I get the hustler comments or shark comments just by putting my glove on. I have learned to ignore it and just play my game. I choose to play with a glove, but I know it's not for everyone. Just like everyone has their own preference of cue.

I put 'sometimes I do, sometimes I don't" which isn't exactly true becuase I really rarely do, but sometimes if I'm playing bad and feel like blaming it on my hands gettin sticky I'll throw it on to try to change my game up a little bit.

I've never tried one, just never seen the point of it for me. I always use an open bridge & have never really had any problems with the cue sticking to my hand. At least not something that can't be fixed by wiping the shaft or washing my hands.

I won't say I'll never use one but it's very unlikely.

Personally, I'd rather see people wear a glove than to use a whole frikkin' block of talc in one night of shootin' !!! These types ought to be hung up naked and spanked on the a$$ with a cane pole ;) !!! Can you imagine these idiots on a BLACK table??? It'd look like a Holstein cow by the nights end :D :D :D !!!

My hands sweat profusely when I shoot. When I first started wearing my glove, my game improved so much, just because my stroke was so much smoother than before. I still wear it whenever I shoot and I like it :)

Yeah thats my problem, plus I really just don't like putting talcum or baby powder on my hands because then I have to keep putting more and more on and it's just a pain, easier to put a glove on and not worry about it.

I saw a guy once about 8 years ago with almost exactly the same glove and set up exactly the same way as you described. My immediate comment was,

"HEY! Michael Jackson's OTHER glove"!!!

However, I DID get the guy to let me examine it. The leather was thin enough so that it wasn't bulky or otherwise materially intrusive upon bridge placement, it was well aereated, close fit (like a skin), comfortable and the cue slid over it effortlessly.

Overall, I would say that this is a pretty good set-up for a glove and, additionally, it DOES look cool -- and intimidating ;) .

Oh yeah, and I wear a glove ONLY when humidity is so high that nothing else I do overcomes the "sticky shaft" syndrome. When it DOES get this humid, I have to have at least THREE gloves with me, as they each get quickly drenched with sweat from my hand. Word of caution: when it gets this bad, it's better to "call in sick" ... :D !

I actually don't mind the glove, but I much prefer the tactile feedback I receive from having the cue directly upon the skin surface of my hand.

Also, upon occasion, I will play with a glove if I think that will cause my opponent to UNDERESTIMATE my abilities. Just like the impression another poster has about those who play with gloves, I have actually seen this happen more than once -- so, I take advantage of this myself from time-to-time.

Thunderball, you're gonna have to vote for me -- not sure WHERE I fall on your poll.
