What pro?

I know a pro that wears a glove and doesn't get paid to wear it. He'd be happy to take your donations.:)
Well, depending on your definition of a pro, who is it and where might I find this pro? Now don't everyone take this as some sort of dopey open-ended offer to anyone with a glove, I am just curious who this is. I've knocked off a few of "so-called pros." Not Earl or Eberle (who I've seen wear a glove), but some people think that if a guy makes a few bucks playing pool, and they are scared of him, he's a professional. By the way, we all know someone who can do something.

My hands are very dry so I have no need for a glove. If I did have a need I'd wear one before I'd use powder and mess up the table for others. It's not a matter of being cool or macho, it's a pragmatic thing.

Given the choices, I had to take the last one though none of them really apply. I tried a glove for a very brief period and couldn't stand losing tactile touch with the cue. However, I see nothing wrong with them for those who find they work for them.

I'm not going to lie, gloves look pretty gay, but since I worry less about my fashion sense and more about my game while playing pool, I use them frequently and they help out tremendously. Much easier than using hand chalk every 5 seconds, not to mention better for your stick. IMO

I suggest pink, to overexaggerate the look of wearing them :)

Mitch.

One of these days someone will come out with a lavender glove. Question is, will they sell, and if so, to whom?

I saw one fellow recently wearing a flesh-toned glove. He was also wearing a wedding band.

They've had different colored gloves for going on 20 years or so.

The Blakeman glove was introduced in the late 80's, IIRC. It was one of the first "flesh-toned" gloves. My daughter uses the one I bought from back then.

I’m no hypocrite so yeah bring your a$$ down to cincinnati, put your glove on and you got the last two. Ill play you some nine ball $20-$30 a game or some $200-$300 sets. I don’t give a sh*it if you play like Jesus Christ him self.

Post copied for future reference..

Just on a side note.. You DO realize you just added yourself to every roadplayer's "list", don't you? They know all they have to do is put on a glve to trap you, and if you refuse to give them the spot the first set, they can call you out for saying that online..

It's one thing to think it.. It's a whole 'nuther thing to put it down in writing..

There is already a lavender color glove out! Well actually more of a purple, but I don't know who is buying them!

Dam that made me laugh.

JC is well known to pool players all over the world. How many times have you seen someone miss a shot and mutter "Jesus Christ?"

He's never far from me when I play!:D

Your asking me to drop names. Shame. Shame.;)

I've knocked off a few of "so-called pros."
Congrats.

True, I suppose, but I think he qualifies as a "pro." Would winning a pro event qualify him?;) How about if he's been on ESPN several times? What if has been invited to the UPA Pro Player Championship at least the last two years? What if I told you he's been on the Billiard Digest Power Index for almost two years running? What if he's been invited to the WPC World 9-ball Championship in South Korea and the Phillipines?

By the way, we all know someone who can do something.
Yes and some of us know someone who can do much, much more.:)

I wear a glove when i play. I started out using Cuetec cues so it was my only real option. I use wood cues now but I have just gotten so use to the feel of the glove that I feel like i can't get my stroke if I don't wear it. I admit it looks kinda dumb and I hate wearing it when I go to pool halls but I'm happier playing with it.

An excellent reason to wear a glove: getting in and staying in stroke. The feel is basicaly consistent regardless of fluctuations in environmental humidity.

Funny you mentioned that because I only where a glove in my rec room/attic because it gets a little sticky in the the summer. I bought that very same glove. I didn't want to wait for shipping so the local game room supply store had them. No one will ever know it is only for shooting while in my house. I keep my cue condition very very well.

When I used to wear one I cut the ends of the fingers so my fingers wouldn't feel like they were about to slide on the cloth.

Sorry for insulting your glove.

Sorry, you just reminded of almost every guy that say's "I really don't want to play but I'm sure I can find you a guy." I just love it. Then I say "Is he here?" Then the next response is "I'll fly him in." Inevitably, that fellow has never met who he's trying to name drop, but acts like they live together. Now, this might not be true in your case, but it's true for many across the U.S. I didn't mean to insult your glove, it just struck me funny. We can all find a guy, or know a guy. I have a few on speed dial also. And I do know a few personally, travelled with them, and been up with them for much crazy action. That doesn't make ME a better player. I just know them. Your guy can beat my guy stuff cracks me up. I always talk about myself when asked my opinion. I've even once had a guy tell me he knew a guy that was two hours away who could torture me and he knew him quite well. And it turned out he was talking about me. He was calling my phone to come and play me. There is no disrespect meant and I wouldn't have responded, but it struck me funny.

Crawfish,
TOO FUNNY.

At least, with that kind of match up there would not have to be endless discussion about weight. I'm assuming you were willing to play yourself evenup.

Been trying to avoid this thread :D

Old country boy from Texas, I just can't wear a glove and never will.....players that I've personally seen in halls with gloves were almost always a bad C player, but it seems many have posted numerous players that wear them that are easily 10 times better than myself.....the glove reminds me of a man bag, and I just can't do that either....I'm fully aware of my shortcomings, I'm sure this is one of them, and mean no harm to those that like them.....I just can't do it ;)

Could it be that most players in halls wearing gloves are c players or worse because most players are c players or worse? Most players in haolls not wearing a glove are also c players or worse. Not much indication of skill can be taken by the equipment used be it a cue , a glove, or most anything else.
