Lets talk gloves...(poll)

Depends on the Cue I'm using .....

Everytime I play 1-hole or 14-1, I use one of my high-end cues and never wear a glove ... However, I play as an alternate for a local 8-Ball League and always play with my Cuetec Jump/break Cue (not worried about a few accidental nicks and scuffs) and the Shaft is not smooth enough for me, even when well waxed, so I wear a glove ... I hear the same b.s. everyone else hears about "you must be a hustler", but the schleppes at the bars don't phase me one bit ... I generally never lose a game, unless someone gets really lucky ...

BTW - The Cuetec J/B has a Talisman Medium Tip and plays great ... I picked it up on eBay last year (like new) for $36.00 shipped ... It stays in the truck, so I will always have a stick handy ...

Tinsley Johnson, a well-known West Coast player, ALWAYS wears a glove no matter which game he's playing ... I have seen many other Pro's wearing gloves, but I can't name them right now (brain farts are common at 65 yrs. old) ...

Pool gloves are like 1-irons in golf. You rarely ever need it, but when you do--- it's awesome to have in the bag.

I personally don't care what anybody else does, except the guy that leaves half of the cone of talc on the table. When I started playing competive pool 7 years ago I looked for every advantage I could.

As a kid I can remember playing with the cues available wherever we were playing and how beat up and uncomfortable they were never liked them, when I started playing again nothing had changed.

With a glove my shaft stays clean, my hand stays clean, the table stays clean, the shaft and stroke remain smooth.

I just don't understand why most here have never tried them but, would rather not play than to wear one.

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, well I guess that it's true. Though I'd like to be wrong on that one. And, if anybody has anything to say about it just smile while you take their money.

To all the folks who prefer traditonal, there's nothing wrong with that either.

My hands normally stay dry but about 4 years ago at an APA team event the heat and humidity was so bad the cue would not slide through my fingers. A team mate offered a glove to use and although I always thought they were stupid I gave it a try. Problem solved.

I've carried a glove in my case ever since and have only used it 2 more times, but it is a life saver on those days when rolling balls throw up a rooster tail!

My general rule is if you play w/ a glove you get at least the last 2.

I tried one when they first came out years ago, I just cant feel the shaft when I wore the glove, a little to slick for me, so I never used it again.

But I do wish all of the powder abusers would wear one, tables would stay a lot cleaner.

Never worn a glove, no need. I prefer a slight drag from the natural patina. Not eveyone needs it to be smooth as silk. From the votes so far most others must feel the same.

I have a few different gloves I use on my bridge hand, one is a standard shooting glove, another I made from a pair of cheap cotton/nylon work gloves. They both work alright.

Actually, seeing as you've obviously got the upper hand, looks like you're a straight pool player, how about giving me the right to break the balls, and instead of the 5 out, instead give me the wild 3, 5 and 7... in that wild game called 9 ball.

Any better?

I’m no hypocrite so yeah bring your a$$ down to cincinnati, put your glove on and you got the last two. Ill play you some nine ball $20-$30 a game or some $200-$300 sets. I don’t give a sh*it if you play like Jesus Christ him self.

I never put much faith into any one that constantly boasts about how good they are. I don't care who they are, it just isn't becoming of anyone to boast about it.

My favorite glove is made from a biker's leather glove, with plenty of holes in it, and the pinky and ring fingers cut off, as well as the tips of the middle and forefingers.

Looks kinda mean. Wear that sucker and you'll get comments like "that looks sinister"...

Definitely not the glove for pansies, or guys who don't like power shots!

I'm not going to lie, gloves look pretty gay, but since I worry less about my fashion sense and more about my game while playing pool, I use them frequently and they help out tremendously. Much easier than using hand chalk every 5 seconds, not to mention better for your stick. IMO

I suggest pink, to overexaggerate the look of wearing them

Never said you or others didn't need one. If peoples hands sweat a lot I'm sure they do. People use gloves for other reasons, real or imagined. But like I said, most people don't need or want to use one.
