Lightest Playing Cue

Whats the lightest playing cue you have made? just curious I have a customer that wants a 17oz cue. And how did they play

I had a fellow who wanted a solid maple butt with no figure, no rings, no collars, not even a bumper. He wanted only a joint pin. It was to be 57" long & weigh 15oz. I talked him into a bumper, but otherwise the cue was built to his spec. He was an old guy who spent his life playing with an old Brunswick house cue, and carried it around with him place to place. He wanted the new cue to be close to it. The cue turned out great and he played well with it. He loved it.

I don't like to play with anything much over 17 oz. Always liked a lite cue. It really depends on how strong your stroke is. Some people like to precisely move the ball. Have a guy now that wants a 15 15.5 oz. cue. I have no Idea what I am going to make it out of. Might end up coring the handle with balsa. That would probably feel bad.

I had someone want a cue to be 16oz. I made it out of red cherry ,It's wt. 16.3oz .He loves it . I have some more red cherry if anyone needs are wants it. Just let me know .Jeff

Guy just came by he also wants a 12mm tip he has small hands but 12mm seems it would be a bit small to me but to each his own. I am going to start on this next week after we work out the details.

I bet he has a long stroke and drops his elbow.
The people who like these really light cues ( what I've seen ) like to really stroke the ball.

I came across a thread saying Earl Strickland is playing with a 16+oz cue..

I have made two light cues, one 15oz and one 16oz. I made both from 1920's Brunswick one piece cues. One cue was 14oz, and the other was 15oz, I do not know what type of wood was used however, I may have a few more, I will check my inventory if you are interested.

Have a good day!!!!!!!!!!

the laminated handles are pretty light, especially if you get the radial laminates.shouldn't be too tough.

I have a 58" 2 piece ramin-wood cue that weighs 13 oz. on-the-nose.

I was messing around one slow day and realized a 2 piece bridge stick that I had was straight as an arrow. one thing led to another, drilled and inserted a tenon, put a ferrule and tip on it. shoots good to me, but everybody that I've coaxed into using it hates it...:p

Got the cherry in yesterday. Way more than I expected would be sent. Not complaining AT ALL thanks a million. Now I gotta find use for it :)

18 oz. for pocketbilliards

I think 18 is the lightest for 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball, 1-pocket and straight pool with 22 being the heavy end

Hi
Glade to see you got it ok.have fun with it and I'd like to see a pic of what you make with it sometime.BTW it been setting in a barn for about 10yrs b4 I got it and I've had it for a yr. Enjoy and Ty for for your input you've given me . Jeff

light cues...

As another poster already stated, depends on how good your stroke is. I played with a 16.5 ounce cue for years and was unaware of its actual weight. Now my playing cue's weight has been 18.25 ounces for the last twenty plus years, anything heavier makes my cueball go way too far on a regular basis.

i made a cue for a guy once. i didnt come out.

he wanted superthin butt like .840 to 1.200 or smaller but a piloted ss joint 5x16-14

i shouldnt have even tried bc i know it wouldnt work

balance wat terrible no matter what bolt i used
