I agree. No sense marketing or advertising a machine that isn't built or even engineered. I like the fact that you are trying to develop different machines, Lee, but finish one, then market it WITH PICTURES. That being said, good luck.

i agree.it seems like everytime i click on one of these adds, there is no product or it is coming in 2 months.i like the idea of a cheap good tapering machine, but what is the point of talking about it until it's ready.

I agree!

I have to admit I'm getting a little tired of Lee's marketing style. If you have a product that you can show, tell me the price and it's ready to ship....fine! This month's in advance, don't know what it will cost, let's hype a concept gets old!

Well,
I can def see everyone's point of view, but to take a look at the other side
of the fence, here is my point, when I heard about the storm coming, and knew it would be able to both shafts and butts as well as inlays, I manage to save myself alot of money by knowing the machine was coming and I would not have to find space for 2 machines, as I work out of a small
10x20 shop, also lets note that you not get to see all the new ideas and cars before the major car shows
not a debate you should take a look at the other side

Those cars, at the show, are built, just not production. If he has a working prototype, I'd love to see it but the initial hype is lost when the PT is months down the road. Show the PT to generate interest and presales, then start building to fill orders.

Ryan<~~~wants a CNC shaft/butt cutter.

Ryan,

I agree with that point to generate presales and get ready etc, I have suggested to Lee that he post some pics, atleast of the Storm as I have
seen it and is quite a nice machine, Ryan - you will get your shaft and
butt cutting machine very soon

Is it a mill or gantry type machine?

I think it is appropriate to leak upcoming products in a marketplace to stimulate buyers. Let me see...Wii, Xboxes...the list goes on. Lee reminds me of a kid in a candy store and I appreciate his enthusiasm. I am holding off on some equipment to see this stuff he is coming out with. Of course, I am in no hurry and I am more a cue mechanic than I'll ever be a builder. Now Ryan is a builder, I got a couple of his cues coming and the reason I ordered is I have hit a couple of his cues and I was very impressed with the performance.

They are built, but they may not be what you get when they do become production. And who knows when it will be in production, or how much it costs? Ex: The new Camaro that has been at the car shows since '06, I believe? They are coming out in "Early" '09. And there still isn't a nailed down MSRP.

I do agree, however, that pics should be included in all sales ads. One of my favorite smilies is the "This Thread is Worthless without Pics!".

Pictures and a spell checker please. Case in point:

i never claimed to be a great speller as far as pictures go we do have both machines built and will have product to sell at the open we do plan posting pics of the shaft machine next week also the storm a week before the show as mark said and i know for a fact working for ford they don't release pictures of new cars till a certain point in the program . as far as speed its always good to have that even if you don't use it cutting you can
program any speed return is where you can use the speed plus when taking a few thousands off a pass 30 ipm is fine speed to run sports cars can do well over 100 mph if wanted that doesnt mean you have to run that fast. some people can find fault in anything to those that do i suggest
making your machine cause then there will be no faults . to those that are interested in a good quality machine you know where we are at.

I build cues to sell and usually build all my own equipment and jigs. I build them for my own use. Now Lee is a manufacturer of equipment and jigs, to make cue building easier. He's in the business of SELLING equipment. I can certainly understand Lee holding back with detailed pictures of many of his devices. Most cue makers have a lathe and many a mill. Once a concept is known and a prototype is built and tested, it is a short step to building one. I built my first saw-shaft machine about 16 years ago and when people would see it they couldn't believe how it worked. I put a chuck on the back of my lathe and I had a tool and die maker come into my shop and when he seen it he told me he had not seen anything like that in 30 something years of tool making. Both are very simple devices that make cue making much, much easier. Once you learn the tricks you say to yourself "well that is easy, I would have thought of it in a minute if I had put my mind to it" There are many things that are simple and common place in cue making now that had to be thought up by someone.

Don't get me wrong. I have no real problem with what Lee is doing or making. I like him and his products. I just feel a little let down when I see a new posting about a new machine and then click on it........nothing......wait and see. (which is what I do)

I'm very visual. Machines and cues are like women. You can describe her all you want but I still want to see her. (I said "see", not touch......:grin-square: )

I went to Staples and bought one of those buttons also.

Building cues is breeze now and if I run into any problems I just "hit" the button!

<~~~can't believe after the eddie campaign, people are still complaining about advertising techniques...............

I think Lee is great for our business. There probably isn't a builder out there that doesn't have at least one of Lee's tools.
If the Prototype isn't finished how can you advertise it. How can you know what the finished product will be like untill it's built and tested.

I'm not trying to bash Lee. I just want pictures with the words.
