Lil Joe Villalpando's 12 year old protege', Chad Behnke, wins the 8th McDermott tour stop of 2007. Folks, there is no better pool instructor on the planet than Joe Villalpando. His work with the entire Behnke family has been compiled on two instructional DVDs with a third in production now. If you don't play "A" player speed you owe it to yourself to check out Joe's DVDs.

McDermott All American Tour Cue Masters Billiards

The eighth stop of the 2007/2008 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance ? ACS) was hosted at Cue Masters Billiards in Dubuque, IA, on Saturday, October 27. The $500 added event drew twenty-one players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.

12-year old Chad Behnke (Farley, IA) ran undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Behnke (rated a ?3? on a regional handicap system used) clipped Don Boll [3] (Dubuque, IA) 3-1. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Behnke dispatched Mike Rohner [3] (Dubuque, IA) 3-1, while Boll eclipsed Ron Pluym [4] (Dubuque, IA) 3-3. In the B-side bracket quarterfinals Mike Rohner eliminated Bob McDonald [4] (Dubuque, IA) at 5th place by a 3-2 margin, while Ron Pluym ousted John Sprague [3] (Clinton, IA) 4-0 at the same placement. In the B-side semifinals Rohner upset Pluym 3-1, and Rohner was further successful in the B-side bracket finals by ousting Don Boll 3-1. Young Chad Behnke?s skills belied his age, and he took control of the tourney finals immediately to dispatch Mike Rohner 3-1 for the title.

The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric and Nick Varner Signature Cases for their support in donating ?Value-In-Kind? product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the 2007/2008 All American Tour by contacting the ACS.

The Tour continues on the weekend of November 3-4, when two events will be showcased - the $1,000 added Q?s Snowbird 9-Ball Amateur Open at Q?s Sports Bar & Girl in Port Charlotte, FL on Saturday, November 3rd (contact Ken Coulter at 941-585-9600), and a $500 added 8-Ball event at Leisure Time Billiards in E. Moline, IL on Sunday, November 4th (contact Dwaine Bowman at 309-752-9559). Bill,

I played his older brother, who at the time was 15 or 16, a couple of years ago. I recall his name was Adam, but I might be mistaken. That kid can shoot also!!! Guess it runs in the family.

It states that they are from IA, I thought they were from OH??? Just curious......

Thanks for the update.

The older brother is Adam, Poolhustler and he does play jam-up himself. They are from IA and not OH. BTW, Black-Balled, might not be long before you need the break to go with that last 3 from this young man.

You're right, Fatboy. Joe has always been a guy that was easy to get along with. When he took your cash,,,,,and he always did,,,,,,,,you didn't get as hot about it. He was such a nice guy you just figured to make it back on the next guy you gambled with.

Little Joe

Congratulations to Joe and his protege.

Joe came up to Chicago about a month ago with older brother Adam and they joined us at the Illinois Billiards Club for dinner and a little warm up before they sauntered over to Red Shoes for a little action.

Adam shot very well and as always, Little Joe was a pleasure to talk with. I think he showed Deacon some things that night at Red Shoes.

Absolutely! Thanks for reminding me:
Witnesseth: Offers to play the young bully post 11/10/2007 shall expand to include the breaks and the last 3.
:o :D

Joe skipped out on playing a game of golf with the regulars on Saturday so he could "work with the Behnke boys"...which means he turned down a sure-fire opportunity to take our $$$. This was moments before the start of the tourney. I guess that last minute fine tuning was effective!

Behnke Boys

Actually there are 4 brothers all play damn good stick Adam the oldest is the hustler of the family he travels town to town with Joe in Iowa and IL theye came up here to Galesburg about 3 weeks back adam played the room owner and joe played a couple locals Chad the youngest one has the sharpest skills and in 3 years he will be another force all 4 brothers came down to Galesburg last year for the McDermott tour and adam placed 3 rd in the open chad won 14 and under and ryan won the i believe 17 an under its crazy they all listen and learn verry well you will hear there name for a long time. Joe is the best! The only Behnke I"ve seen play is Adam and he will be trouble for even the best. The younger ones, having the benefit of Joe's guidance while in their early years, will be real tough. Hopefully they will be here this weekend for the McDermott tour stop.

Get Joe's DVD's if you want to learn how to play pool. He advertizes here on az so he's supporting our forums.. and he lurks too :D www.pooliq.net

I was Joe's chauffeur for all of the local tournaments in New Orleans for a couple of years. I watched, listened, drove and drove and drove and tried to play. He did get mad at me one time for beating him in an eight ball tournament about 15 years ago. (short race, could have been single game DE ) He just didn't realize how much I wanted to win. And no, I didn't win the tournament. He was more mad about that than me knocking him out of the tournament but I still had the wheels so he couldn't be too angry with me. :p :D
