Vagabond,

This is true. And I think everyone who loves the game like we do wants only the best for out sport.

And looking at Smorg's post, if I have given any inkling of an idea that I condone "dumping", nothing could be farther from the truth. I agree that people who dump are the scum of our sport and should be taken behind the pool room and given what they deserve. I just feel that the popularity of our sport doesn't hinge on keeping the image unrealistic and different from the reality of the way things actually are in pool. Most everyone is intrigued by the "seedy" side of the sport. I think we should use it to our advantage.

Mike
Ditto in case I didn't make myself clear -- the gambling 'action' in pool is a big part of the excitement, and is as old as the game itself; the dumping is a different story however -- it hurts everybody in the long run, and is the single biggest thing that discourages 'action'.

Just an observation - Not an opinion or judgement.

Millions of people bet lots of money on racehorses and consistently lose.
A horse is one of the dumbest animals on earth.
To add insult to injury, they put a crooked jockey on the horse and expect people to bet their money based on their past performance, AND THEY DO!

Well, not that I'm taking sides, BUT.... this thread seems to be an offshoot of JAMS poll about the DCC A/E Award nominees. There were three people 'named' in that poll and a choice for 'other'. One of three people was suspected of dumping a well known stakehorse (and AzB poster/member) and submitted to a polygraph test administered by a law enforcement professional of the stakehorses chosing.

Hi Smorgass Bored,
I am glad to see your post on this thread. Some posters became hypersensitve about my comment ( which was vague and non specific) on this young gun from Hattiesberg.I made the comment on two different threads. One female poster even went on an abrasive mode.None of these hypersensitives reacted to your comments( more specific and descriptive) posted in that JAMs poll about the DCC A/E Award nominees. I thought that the non response ,from these hypersensitves, to your post was interesting and funny.Cheers

Cheers, Vagabond! Yep, I'm a female poster, and I am hypersensitive to comments from those who are not present at an event, but then make suggestive comments such as "business as usual" and/or "looked like he missed the ball intentionally."

I did not attend the DCC, and I cannot comment one way or another about whether what you have insinuated is, in fact, the truth. I already knew about Smorgie's disdain for Little John bouncing a check. I read about it last year. If somebody bounced a check on me, I'd be pretty upset about it.

Having said that, you can suggest, insinuate, and profess that games appear to be "business as usual," but when it comes to me and mine, I'm going to speak the truth. When you post about Keith McCready looking as if he missed a ball intentionally at the Skins tournament, it gives the appearance as if he did something unacceptable. NOTHING could be further from the truth.

I'd like to think of myself as having a little integrity when it comes to this game, Vagabond. If you want to bring my name up again, I will be happy to reply and, once again, state the truth. You see, Vagabond, I was there at the Skins tournament. I know there were no savers, dumps, or "business" going on.

To be clear, you can be rest assured that any action game, tournament, or other venue that I am present at when Keith McCready is competing or gambling, there ain't going to be "business as usual" activities. I enjoy earning a nice living doing what I do, and the thought of doing something like that is repulsive to me, just like your suggestive comments.

Have a nice day! :)

Wow, JAM, you must have really been hot! I've never seen you misspell a word before...

My 2¢

If this thread is about Little John "Doing Business" when he played Marcus in the lounge for $10K, going to 10 ahead - YOUR NUTS!

I watched about 85% of this match and have been (many years ago) on 3 of the 4 sides of a "Business Game". THIS WAS NOT BUSINESS.

1. - Business Games Don't last that long.
2. - Business Games aren't usually played "Ahead".
3. - At one point John was 7 ahead. - Too close, IF it was business.
4. - THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR - John Don't need the $.

Doing "Business" is like selling or buying drugs. The worst part of it is - the people you must deal with. Anytime 2 people know of something, it isn't a secret anymore.

I am the horses mouth!!!!!

I've been out of town for the last few days and havent had a chance to see whats been going on on az. I read the whole forum and I want to thank those of you who had positive things to say but I do have a response for a few of you. Big Nasty, just to clear the record the boy Shane came to Hattiesburg and beat me out of about 3,000 and I was bust so I asked his backer to let me run a credit until the next day and I would pay off whatever the bill was the very next day. When the bill got to another 4,000 I qiut and asked Mike his backer could I steer the boy around and work a settlement out on the remaninig balance. We agreed on a thousand and I paid it off about a month in a half later. If Mike hadnt excepted the thousand then I would have been obligated to pay the remaining balance off it might have just taken a little time.
Pupit, who are you? I never have had any dealings with someone who was a stakehorse that I gave them a bad check and they almost had to pursue legal action to get back whatever I owed. As far as the black eye thing, the only black eye that I see is constant negagtivity from the same posters on every sight, thats a black eye for pool regardless who should be a role model.
Smorgass Board, You still one and a half years later want to continue bashing me about the check to Kenny in Tampa and the polygraph in La. You always fail to mention that "eventually" I made the check right and that now days the guy who organized the polygraph and I have made up and that deal is over regardless who's opinion of what really happened is right or wrong.
I know pool players have flaws and as expressed on this board I have flaws too, but what the sweaters (smorgass board, etc) dont realize is that this life is tough and sometimes in trying to survive you make mistakes. As time goes on I am sure that I will make somemore and I hope that you all will think about it a little more before all the negative posts because it just makes it tougher on me. The tougher it gets on me, the more likely I would be to pull a "MOVE" to make it...... Another thing is I have gambled high in alot of places and I have lost my fair share but usually if I am busted and someone else is posting up for me to play its "BORROWED MONEY" not getting staked. I want to let the sweaters know that there is a differnce b/c I know the pool players would understand. While I am on here I guess I should cover all areas just to clarify the record, I do, I repeat, I do owe money to the gambling world but what gambler doesnt???? I will say this though that when I get it I "ALWAYS PAY." If that wasnt the case then I wouldnt be able to continue to borrow to play on.... I hae been dealing with the same group of guys that help me get into high stakes action for several years, ocasionally I have met a new one or two while I was out on the road. Also, when I leave a town owing money usually I went broke which means I lost several thousand dollars and owed a little. When a road player comes through Hattiesburg and goes broke and leaves owing the last game we call it a "walking stick" and usually will give them a riding stick as well..... All my last game walking sticks have become aggrigated debt all over the country to these sweaters on this sight. Anyway I shouldnt have wasted my time trying to defend myself but I get tired of constantly reading garbage from a select few every time I log on. If you dont like "LILJON" or his ways then click on another thread and read about that, I'm not starting these threads and dont care if you read them. To the rest of you I'm willing to do whatever I can to help pool and myself in the process. Lets try to get the game and action back on track so we all can have something "LEGITIMATE" to talk about.......LILJON

Hey, Liljon! :) I gotta say, I like the way the good old Southern gentlemen treat their fellow players.

Every time KM busts somebody, he ALWAYS gives them a "walking stick," or a "bone" as he calls it. I don't see too many players up North doing this. It is almost unheard of. I always liked the South!

AND by the sounds of it, you were quite the action player at the DCC this year. Congratulations on being nominated for the Louie Roberts A/E Award. I'm hoping the decision comes forth soon. According to the AzBilliards poll I initiated about the nominees, you got the most votes, some from those who did attend the DCC and some who read action updates on this forum.

Check out the threads on Kid Delicious, Earl Strickland, and other popular players. You are in good company, my friend! It seems when players do well, there are always a few sucker-punchers who like to take a few jabs.

Take a little advice from JAM and try to not let the negative postings bother you. In the whole scheme of things, it actually means nothing. However, you're definitely entitled to defend yourself against the untruths and insinuations. Those are the worst hits of all.

Hope to see you on the tournament trail. Keith sends his regards! :)

Let Liljon be. I admire him for having the cajones to defend himself. He is not living an easy life on the road and at least he owns up to his mistakes.

Peace to you Liljon.

Tap - Tap - Tap Lil jon.

Those that haven't walked down those roads will never - ever understand. Great post, I admire your candor.

> I for one, have nothing negative to say to or about you,Lil Jon. When you woof, you play. When you lose, you pay, simple as that. I know there have been times when things didn't go your way,but you made it right, which unfortunately doesn't happen with a LOT of other players. Remember what you said on Southern Billiards when someone was poking fun at your hot tamale business? You said something to the effect that if it lets you play 5K sets with regularity every pool player in America should have one,I agree 100%. I made a post a few weeks back about how it seemed like players now were too interested in the woofing, and not getting up to play. This does not apply to you, your woofing in entertaining, and you do it with 100% intent to get something stirred up. Good Luck at the Super Bowl tournament,Tommy D.

My Experiences Of "Business".

There are very few players alive who have as much ROAD experience as I do, so I think I am qualified to make these statements -

55% of the "Business" accusations stem from the losing side of a match.

35% of the "Business" accusations stem from JEALIOUS Wanna-bees.

6% of the "Business" accusations stem from Extraterrestrial Sources.

&

4% of the "Business" accusations are from Big Mouths wanting to be Big Shots.

people on this forum CONSTANTLY remind me of something i was told after i had been playing for a short while and started beating the local guys that had been playing for quite a while and all of a sudden i was losing friends...........

everyone hates a winner........that was the saying........

people on this forum give this statement more validity every day.........

although it seems that if people start talking trash about you on online forums you've made it.........look at the list that gets bashed on the internet all the time, keith, earl, charlie, etc, etc.........all the greats get bashed..........i'd take this as a compliment liljohn..........as it seems people just love to hate a winner. and it seems you've just joined the "winners" list :(

thanks

Lil Jon,
Very well said. I originally started this thread just to get your insight on this match and your feelings toward it.Never wanted it to get personal but sometimes it happens that way.We all have made mistakes and we all keep making them, thats the beauty of life. Its not the mistakes we make but what we learn from them that counts. Keep stroking them and betting it high.

Lil Jon, I'd have to call yours one of the best posts in the history of this forum. Thanks for all the perspective you provided on the action scene.

Lil jon, i was wondering if you were gonna be making it back up to Sauget, IL for the midwest 9 ball tourny at the Break in March?? Definetly enjoyed watching the action you got a few years back, you have alot of heart, and a hell of a lot of gamble! definetly one of the few players I can say that about now days.

Ain't It The Truth

You don't get hit by the tomatoes until you stand up!!! Jon, you made a mistake, oh no. That makes you just like the rest of us. Say it ain't so man.
Get plenty of rest next time and knock em dead.
