List of Living 200+ Runners

Countries of origin added. Lots of googling, lol. I still need countries for:

Aki Heiskanen
Bernd Jahnke
Jui Lung Chen
Rafael Martinez
Martin Poguntke
Ingo Schweden

Steve, Chen is from Taiwan. I'm thinking Taipei, but definitely Taiwan.

I have to believe that Danny D and Grady M could contribute significantly to this list. Have they been contacted?

ehh yea Carter is my pick for the little list

Jeff could play, and I know as I practiced with him in Madison, Wisconson on many a cold evening. So if u get the message Steve I would vote for Jeff being added to your infamous list, I think he studied the game with Sailor and Jerry Breisath also.

Sincerely, Danny Harriman (not a member of any group or political party)

Larry Hubbart, a mentor to and road partner of Mike Sigel, seems very likely to have run 200 or more, and even 300 wouldn't shock me. Playing 14.1, Larry used to give Sigel a spot until Mike was a late teen. The thing is, Larry retired from competition early to start the APA, so he may not have put in the hours to accomplish a really high run. Best source to check on this would surely be Mike Sigel himself.

I will echo Danny Harriman's comments about Jeff Carter. I played some 14.1 with Jeff during the mid-1990's and he played 14.1 about Tony Robles speed. Most likely that Jeff ran 200 at some point.

Mike Zuglan has forever claimed that he's never run more than he needed to win a game. For the record, I don't believe this. He is a human and it's only natural to see how far you can go, especially when you're ridiculously good at something. I've gotten into this argument with people who know him, who swear he is a bit of a strange bird and really has never tried to run anything. So I don't want to get into it again, I'll just say that his claim is... bizarre.

Thanks,
Steve

I don't know if this has been addressed later in the thread or not, but Mike claims he NEVER practices.

George Mecula 336

I used to hang out with George during my lunch hour (when I worked at Duggal around the corner). He would run 100 once or twice a day for years. I saw him run a couple 200 runs as well. These were generous pockets (5.25" I believe).

I wanted to mention that George had a high run of over 400. His 336 happened at Chelsea Billiards, a few years before he passed away.

Word on the street in the mid 60's----Buddy Dennis did a 187 as a 16 year old.----Said his main weakness was positioning.

In his late teens was by far the best pure shooter I ever saw.

I believe one of our not so regular posters has a high run over 200
Dan Wallace (DWallace) I want to say 214? maybe somebody else can verify.

Thanks

Michael

list of 200 ball runners

Davy Daya's high run is 323. He has run over 200 balls on several occasions and just the other he ran 309 in my pool hall, Ashland Billiards.

200 plus balls

Their is a gentleman from the Cleveland area who used to host the World Straight Pool Championships in the late 80's named Frank Zummo who has run over 200 on several occassions. I am sure that either Alan Hopkins or Pat Flemming could vouche. He is still alive and runs over 100 on a regular basis.

Russian straight pool record has been updated recently. New record holder is Ruslan Chinakhov with a run of 203. And it was performed on house equipment: pretty inaccurate pockets, dirty balls... Tough conditions and a great run. Please put Ruslan on the list.
