List of Living 200+ Runners

I believe one of our not so regular posters has a high run over 200
Dan Wallace (DWallace) I want to say 214? maybe somebody else can verify.

Thanks

Michael

Dan told me that he ran 300, or very close to it. Can't quit recall the exact number. At any rate, I don't doubt it, he is a very knowledgeable and a terrific player.

Tom Karabatsos is already on the list, but I just wanted to state that he told me that his high run is 284.

Keebie-
this young guy (Ederer) imo is one of the talentest players i ve seen since 20 years. Now he s playin in a great team with a supber pro-instructor. I really hope he ll find his way. the next 2-3 years will show it :)

For those that have not seen Manuel Ederer play, here is a cool video that highlights his skills very well.

Manuel Ederer 2008

Despite the uncanny resemblance ... no, he is not my son. LOL

New York City

Gene Nagy, one of the best straight pool players to ever come out of New York City in the 70's, should be added to the list. A 400 ball runner. Passed away in 2006 of cancer.

Hey guys, I will update the list over the weekend. Sorry - been busy.

Mike, this is a list of guys who are still alive... unfortunately, as you mention, we lost Gene a little while ago.

Slightly off topic - does anyone have any video of Gene playing? I came to NY after his heyday and I never even got to be in the same room with him. Would love to see some video. If anyone does have any, please post it in another thread on the forum. Thanks!

400 Balls

Let's not forget Gene Nagy! A truly, truly, truly talented, devoted and focused player. You'll not find his name amongst the ranks of tournament winners and players, although I know he played a few. Gene was considered an "underground player", often found in action matches in his earlier years.

In brief, as the story goes... Gene was a trumpet prodigy attending the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York City back in the '60s and dropped out to play pool. Imagine what his parents thought.... and play pool Gene did, touching the lives of many young players along the way (me included).

According to some knowledgeable in the pool world, Gene had a high run of 430 balls and had run over 200 more than 20 times. I personally racked for him as he ran 9 racks of 9-ball on me. Gene was magical!!

Additionally, you'll find a dynamite tribute written by Jerry Tarantola on his Web site http://http://nycgrind.com/

Please update your list Steve. Thanks

A change for you Steve

In talking to Andy Toth today he told me his high run was 240 not 256

The run was at a bowling alley in Wilmington, Delaware against Delaware Dogs who has since passed away.

thanks
