List of Living 200+ Runners

...onto the beach.

-Sean <-- being a veteran and in his Veteran's Day holiday frame of mind, thought that "PB" is patrol boat. :o

Yep, that was his 202nd consecutive patrol boat he crashed. He's been held in custody until further notice...

bumping the thread, and for a good reason: Stephan Cohen now has a run of 431 under his belt.

P.S. I wish this thread was a sticky, and with personal high runs for every player, or at least for first 20 or 30.

STRAIGHT POOL HIGH RUNS:
http://hermund.ardalen.com/straightpoolhighruns.htm

thats a great site, has to be updated though !!!

I think there are some inacuracies in it !

Maybe someone need to make a wiki, who's up to the task ?

There are several inaccuracies in that list.

One, it's George *Mikula*. Ginky was a disciple of this great player.

Two, there is a guy on the list, that also posts on AZB, that is a total fraud. There is no frickin way that guy ran the high run he claims. It's amazing; no top Pool player of the last 30 years has heard of the guy and the local players that do know him are amazed at his claims on AZB. While he seems like a nice enough guy, it really is galling what a pathetic liar and poseur he is.

That really is hte problem- the Internet. There is a lot of misinformation on the Net. In fact, there is some outright, bold faced horsechit that ppl put out there. Of course, if it's in wrting, it must be fact...

The list in the link was put together by Mickey/Houseman of D&D Billiards in Downingtown, PA. He put the list together about 5 years ago, some of the info he got from AZB. Some of the records are widely known, but most are hearsay. Mickey didn't do much vetting of the info provided. while I will guess that some runs are accurate, I would be very hesitant to look at that list as Gospel.

New home for the straight pool high runs list, to get vetting it needs?

Agreed. I think in the 14.1 forum, we'd pretty much written-off that site, because not only is it old/outdated information (many of the runs recorded there have been since been superseded by the same player that set them -- Ginky's run being a good example), but also because the information itself was recorded inaccurately. To be fair to Steve, a lot of those inaccuracies are only now coming out, as people like yourself are stepping forward with "this is wrong, and here's why..." proof.

For instance: I recently learned that the modern-day highest run -- Thomas Engert's -- is improperly recorded on that site. They show it as "492" when, in fact, Thomas himself signs his name with "491" as part of his autograph. (And, Thomas' own profile on the EU championships website records the 491 as well.)

But at the same time, we have to start somewhere. No entity (BCA, WPA, et al.) seems interested in putting up a website recording straight pool high runs, so grassroots efforts such as the one we're talking about above jump into the fray to fill this need.

I'm wondering if AZB itself might be a great new home for a listing of this type? It would certainly get the attention (read: vetting) it needs to be accurate. I wonder if Mike H. or Jerry F. would be interested?

Thoughts?

This might be the only viable way. It would be a shame to have a joke of an "official high run" list.

Eric

Yep, I bet I know who you are talking about. What's funny is all the people that are taken in by him.

In my opinion, a high run should have a witness in order to be included on that website.

Was my work years ago

Thanks Eric , as you said this was one of my articles on my website years ago.
I compiled the info from AZ Billiards and other places on the internet.

It got to be a pain in the a$$ as people kept telling me off about wrong info that I just copied from somewhere else, then the whole page was copied by someone, background and all. You all see where it ended up .
Sorry if I offended anyone, I was just doing something for my favorite game

Also thanks MR. Lipksy . for your work on your list

Corey's high run is 153.
You forgot Lou Butera
I don't believe Rodney or Raj have run 200.
I think Max Eberle's high run is 180+ (however it was on 4 inch pockets)
Charlie WIlliams is 141
I think Raphael Martinez has done it (over 300)
Busta and Orcollo are questionable.
Don't know if Efren ever took the time as he gets bored with straight pool

Just a few off the top of my head.

Cool post Steve! ...thanks Marop.

Yeah I ran a 196 on 4 1/4 pockets at Hollywood Billiards in Hollywood, CA with a house cue which I almost never use, weird huh? I ran a 67, missed, then ran the 196. Btw, what was Babe Cranfield's high run? Somewhere in the 600's I've read... And Eufemia ran how many supposedly? ...when will someone run 1,000?

Not too impressed with the list so far. Quite a bit of inaccuracy I think.

I've never heard of Jennifer Chen playing much straight pool. I would be quite surprised if her number of 158 is anywhere near accurate. I don't think there are any women players except Jeanette and Jasmine that can post that kind of number...certainly not JC...JMO.

Wow! 196 with 4 1/4" pockets, that's super impressive.

Cranfield supposedly ran 768. Eufemia ran 625.

LOL im surprised someone knew my high run. i wasnt sure if it was 141 or , but bill is probably right.
I ran the 141 the only time I had ever seriously practiced straight pool. when I was 21 yrs old I practiced it for 1 week straight. The ugliest/exciting 141 in history.
It was for US Open qualifier which I got 2nd to Mika Immonen 125 to 122.

but maybe ill actually try to practice it and make this 200 list one day. Ginky and Robles told me 15 yrs ago if i learned the game id run hundreds easy :P

I might prefer to save my straight pool mojo for the tournaments...

Bobby's post in the other thread got me thinking that maybe we should start a list, and see what we can come up with. Just add any names you can confirm to the bottom, with a new number, and I'll periodically adjust the alphabetization.

What I have so far is in the first post.

Any name with an asterisk is either because I can't confirm 100% that he has run over 200 or I can't confirm he is still alive.

I also have this list of possibles:

Abruzzo, John
Aguerro, Billy
Altomare, Chuck
Aslin, Cetin
Babica, Radoslaw
Bandy, Mike
Becker, Kevin
Bell, Terry
Boyes, Karl
Bryant, Charlie
Bustamante, Francisco
Carter, Jeff
Chao, Fong-Pang
Chavez, Ignacio
Chin, Min-Wai
Dunsmore, Bill
Duregger, Werner
Fisher, Pete
Fusco, Jimmy
Glass, Walter
Hall, Buddy
Herring, Earl
Howard, David
Hunt, Bob
Jungo, Dimitri
Kempter, Martin
Kiamco, Warren
Louie, Dan
Madenjian, Bob
Manalo, Marlon
Marrata, Mike
Mataya, Jimmy
Matushonek, Ed
McNally, Pat
Nacovski, Scotty
Orcullo, Dennis
Pagulayan, Alex
Reid, Jimmy
Reyes, Efren
Ruocco, Tommy
Sambajon, Santos
See, Huidji
Sweet, Toby
Tascarella, Pete
Vickery, Howard
Viera, Carlos
Wiggins, Larry

If anyone can confirm who on this list of possibles definitely has or definitely hasn't run 200, please also chime in.

If anyone can help with the Filipinos, Scandinavians, or Asians, that would be great.

Thanks,
Steve

Growing up in Chicago, I heard Abruzzo ran 240 something, anyone know where he is today besides the track?
