Littman Lights... are they worth it?

I'm strongly considering a lighting upgrade for my home table... a 9-foot Diamond Pro AM... and a friend suggested that I look at Littman Lights.

They're pricey... so before I commit, I'm interested in getting opinions about them... favorable and unfavorable... all are welcome.

My poolroom uses Predator Arena lights.
They are terrific.
Check into them also.
I like them better than Littman.
They cast a better light to my mind.
 
any reason you dont want a diamond light for your diamond pool table?
i am happy with mine
i have no experience with littman or predator
 
Absolutely love my Littman. I like the diffuser as you really do not ever see the light bulbs.

No experience with Littman, but fwiw we're in the very early stages of a remodel to add a pool table. A close friend has this that we're leaning towards.

I like that it's dimmable and that the color/temperature is changeable. Something not all others offer.

Very reasonably priced too.

The main reason is Diamond Lights were designed quite a long time... perhaps 30+ years (?)... and pool table lighting technology has continued to advance. Additionally, I want a more lightweight design that makes it easier to install. I don't have the weight numbers for Diamond's 9-foot light but I'm confident that it weighs well more than 35 lbs., which is the weight of Littman's 9-foot light.

Re lighting technology advances, some lighting manufacturers now feature dimmable, blue tooth connection and remote control... none of which that I want.
 
@cigardave the new Diamond lights are nothing like the ones from 30 years ago. They were redesigned maybe 3-4 years ago. I believe they may even be made by Litman, but unsure. They are much lower profile, lighter, and run on qty 3, 2x2 LED panels.

Branded Littman lights are excellent! One room I go to has them, and there are zero complaints. They light the table well, and have a nice egg crate style diffuser that keeps your eyes comfortable.

Perimeter style light, imo, are the worst light ever made. Stay far away. They blind your eyes and spectator’s eyes that are sitting in the chair. It’s because they don’t have an egg crate style diffuser that both Diamond and Littman and every other light before had. The Predator Arena brand is the worst. The Perimeter Light brand is slightly less offensive.
 
I have a Littman light over my Diamond ProAm. IMHO looks great, easy to install and most of all provides great light over my table, with little shadowing effects. I also was able to get it with Diamond branding as well.
 
I bought a Littman light with my Diamond 8 foot pro am 4 years ago. It comes complete, just hang and wire it. Light never gets in your eyes, like playing in daylight. I got both my table and light with no logo, which was Maria's requirement since the table is in our living room! When I played at the BCA nationals two years ago, all the lights were Littman. I just went to the Diamond site, and it looks like the Diamond lights are Littmans with the Diamond Logo! I have the 6x2 and it costs a lot more than it did 4 years ago, but still a good investment in my opinion.

I can't help yah with this brand, at least their Not Luttman lights. :)

For me I prefer seating area dark, no lights in your face while seated, that's me.
The surrounding area dark gives me much better vision of the balls/play surface etc.
Traditionally was.... the bottom of the bulb.... 36''off play surface, I still think that is thee best.
Plus now adays there's such a WIDE selection of bulbs, your able to get thee exact lighting ''on'' the play surface.
I would think room lighting for surgery, would not be mounted 7' off the floor.

It is a free country, believe what you want.
 
I second the perimeter light. Pricey but well worth it. I recommend getting one with color adjustment and dimming. These lights are far superior to those center of the table lights. Compare my light to the one posted above. Take note of the shadows. Straight down.

Believe me, I am not a Preditor fan.
I think they are more of a marketing company but their lights are amazing.
I am sure they do not make the lights themselves but they are wonderful and add to the overall comfort of the room.
