Local Cue Makers?

Dave Jones of DJ Cues lives ~10 miles from me in Shoreline, WA... which is immediately north of Seattle.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Jim Sickles; he posts here as "BilliardBum" (?spelling?). He has a website: www.sicklescustomcues.com

For the cue connoisseurs, a couple of very prominent pro's say that Jim's cues have that special "hit" that all the great cues have (he's never let me hit with one of his babies, so I can't say for sure:) ).

Another Plug for Coker Cues .......

If you live anywhere near the Sacramento area and need ANY kind of Cue repair, shaft refinishing, tips, or re-wrap you MUST visit Tom Coker's Shop to have such work performed ... I have tried many different Makers and Repairmen over the years and Tom is, By Far, the Best of the Best ... He is as meticulous about repair work as he is with his cue-building ... I just had a Chad Carter Cue re-wrapped there today and one shaft refurbished ... The Cue looks BRAND NEW again ...

Sheldon Lebow

I'm really fortunate to have Sheldon Lebow within an hours drive. Great guy. Great work.

I live in Wellington, FL and have a wonderful choice of cuemakers close to me.

Within 5 miles - Dennis Searing, Arnot and Barringer

Within 15 miles - Neil Corliss and Fred Meister

Within 25 miles - Bob Manzino

Within 50 miles - Joe Picone, Paul Dayton, Ted Harris, John Showman
and Bob Zeide

I believe most of these are well recognized cue makers and I believe all are in the "Blue Book".

In So. Calif 3 that I can think of off hand are Ariel Carmelli, Kerry Zylr and the new guy on the block who made my cue Joey (In Cali) Bautista. Oh, how about Tad, Ned Morris, Ed Prewitt and Ernie Gutierrez over at Gina and the list goes on. Yes we are lucky--and apologies to the other 34 I fogot to mention.

Local Cue Builders

I think we have some great cue builders in Colorado.
I'm sure I've missed a couple.
Terry McFadden recently moved to Arizona but I still consider him a Denver guy.

Denver area:

  • Chris Byrne
  • Ernie Martinez
  • A-E
  • An unknown that builds a great playing cue Randy Etheridge
  • Bruce Ryan-formerly Showcase

Outside of Denver:

  • Judd Fuller in Yellow Jacket
  • Dave Kikel is in Pueblo
  • Roland Becker in Ft. Collins
  • Greg Sirca in Pueblo

1985ish Clay Etheridge Showcase Custom Made Hustler

The top cue is a custom made to my spec's Hustler from Clay. Best $65.00 I have ever spent. Both shafts not a nick on 'em. lol, I never let anybody play with it,always had an extra for ppl to test drive.
The bottom cue. 1993 Gem Cue,from Gary Medlin in Lake Charles. My wife and I designed it,and it is our then Tribute to Gus Szamboti. Gary nailed the Szam hit for me.

I live about half an hour from Dan Trogdon, and shoot with one of his. He plays in the same Sunday BCAPL league as me and in the 9 ball tourney at the Nip n Cue. His stuff gets better all the time also.

Jim Pierce, Tom Coker, Richard Chudy, and kenny koo are a few names that come to mind when i think local cue makers.
