Looking to get cues refinished

i have 3 Meucci's i've had around for awhile that don't get used, i've been teaching a couple teenagers who live up the road from me for about 3 months and they really want to learn, they are down just about everyday, even when i'm busy they show up so i can't turn them away. in the past month or so they have started offering me money for lessons which i refuse to take so they take it upon themselves to try and do things to help out around my shop, taking out trash sweeping, just trying to show appreciation for my help. so i have decided to have these 3 Meuuci's refinished to look like new and give each of them one and keep one for my 8 year old for when he gets a little older. i've never sent any cues away to have them redone, i know someone here can reccomend a shop to have this done, i was gonna give them to them for christmas but it's a little late for that. and how much, ballpark, does it cost to have a cue redone, they are just scuffed here and there no deep scratches i don't think.

he will make a meucci look better then when bob made it!

I will second Chris' endorsement of Scott Sherbine of Proficient Billiards. He does an excellent job, especially on old Meucci cues with the sealed wrap.

Yep.....Scot does wonderful work, and his finished product is as good, if not better, than the rest of 'em.

JWP does a great wrap job (I know from personal experience)...and I hear he does great refinish work, too.

Either gentleman would be a wise choice, I think.

I think for the money, your not gonna get anybody better than Joe Callaluca to do that. He does a fantastic job and he's a real nice guy. I'm sure he'd be happy to do that job for you.

Scot Sherbine at Proficientbilliards would be my first choice for your Meucci's as well. Very good, pretty quick turn around, satisfaction guarantee, and very reasonable.

I'll vouch for Craigs work. He's refinished two cues for me in the last two months. I've seen Meuccis he's refinished too. I don't know how he does it, but somehow when he finishes over the linen wrap, it looks like the linen is 2" below the surface. REALLY deep looking finish. Looks like there's a thick piece of glass over it. Better than new IMO.

Well, it is a Meucci, the wrap very well maybe 2 inches below the surface. :D

i wouldn't doubt that a bit, may even just be a paint job under there, you know how they been cutting corners the past decade or so, shame too, i grew up thinking Meucci's were the nuts, now you can't hardly give them away.

Paint job? Hell, could be a photograph of a wrap under there! :p
You're right though, they most certainly aren't what they used to be. I've got an '84 custom ordered from Bob that plays very well. Double veneer ebony points into honey stained maple. Very tasteful. No hearts or vikings or mermaids or any of that other gay stuff, just wood. I may never give it up!

Good call. I picked up the Phillippi cue I have just sold from Rick's shop, after a complete refinish and rewrap. Perfect work, for sure.
