I may have to go to LA in the next week or so for work and would like to check out some of the poolhalls in the area. All I know about the location of the facility is that it is inbetween the 110 and the 710 and just southeast of the 10 I think above Inglewood. I have also been told that some of the surrounding areas can be pretty tough so I would like to go somewhere nice and that I don't have to worry about being there late. All information would be great.

Thanks
Bora

I have never been to Hard Times in Bellflower....................However I hear they have weekly tournaments that attract A players to Pros, and old road legends. I would think that would make for interesting tournament.........

if you wanna have a chance to see good, strong players, head to hard times.

if you want to socialize and meet some really nice people head to danny k's in anaheim or as mentioned, hollywood billiards.

so Hardtimes for strong players and good action and Hollywood billiards and Danny K's for social playing. Any place else? I hope they decide to send me this week and I can stay over the weekend. Is there anything going on for tournaments or action to watch this weekend if I'm there or next weekend?

If you like one pocket or 3C, come by House of Billiards at 20th and Wilshire in Santa Monica.

Also Mr. Lucky's on Hawthorne Blvd. is not to far from where you'll be. It has Ernesto tight Gold Crowns and three Diamond bar tables. A friendly crowd and some small stakes action.

Hawthorne at Torrance.

I just starting playing 1p at the end of last year and I play 3c from time to time.

Thanks Jay Mr Lucky's sounds good also. I think one of the hotels we use is in Marina Del Ray which I think is north of Torrance so that may be on the way back to the hotel from work.

There will be a 1000 added event at Hollywood April 15. 40 entry. So most of LA players will be there, Tang, Hemmah, Corey, etc. Mr. Lucky's has a super friendly crowd and freshly covered tables. We should finish the last 3 tables either tomorrow or the next day.

I'd say your best bet is at the House of Billiards in Santa Monica.

Great place to stay late, and plenty of action of you're looking for it (1-p anyway). If you want to just hit a few balls, then it's great for that too. I think Ernesto does the tables and they're in great condition.

They have two 3C tables, and 19 Brunswicks. Stick on tables 1-5, or 9 - 14. I find they play the best. Note though, that on tables 11 - 14 are reserved for regulars. If you are to watch any action, these will typically be $40+ one-pocket games if you want to weatch from the rail.

Located at 1901 Wilshire Blvd, at 19th / Wilshire Blvd, in Santa Monica. Take the 405 North, to the 10 East.

Golden Cue in El Monte

Your between the 110 and 710 and below the 10 so your near the Golden Cue in El Monte, go east on the 10 then south on Peck Road to 1953 Durfee Ave. just above the 60 Pomona Fwy and just west of the 605 Fwy

Don't forget to say hi to Sarah, the super cute girl that runs their tournaments.

Plenty of strong players at the Golden Cue, and if you like golf on a 6x12, you will find a couple of no-name Mexican guys who play the game as good as anyone in the USA.

Great Poolroom for sure!

My good friend Kenny owns it. Great room for one pocket action. Not much going on until later in the evenings though (24 hour room).

I'm still working out the details with work but it looks like a go for next week. I'm hoping they will fly me out this Friday or saturday morning to give me some time to explore some poolhalls and I should be in LA until the following friday or saturday. I hope to run into some of you while I'm there.

keep the info coming

Thanks

Give us a full report

Let us know about the California pool rooms. Everyone says since they banned smoking that they are empty and going bankrupt. Would like to hear a first hand report on how California pool is doing. Thanks!

people mention house of billiards, it is nice, but a big thing (for me, depending on my mood), there is no real nice place to sit there. its almost like you have to rent a table to watch people play sometimes, at least i feel this way (and its something like 10 or 12 an hour at night, haha welcome to CA). hard times and danny k's this isnt a problem... hell, you could bring a video camera and tripod into hardtimes and tape a match if you really wanted. looking back if i would have done that with some of the efren and or keith (mccready) stuff ive seen, id have some priceless stuff.

I'm not much of a reporter but I'll do my best. I know the rooms in CT have been hurting for the most part but I wonder if the smoking ban here just happened at the time pool was on a downturn already.

Well I hope to get to check out as many as I can in the week I'm there.
