I know this is a stupid question...but

since I hate to be ignorant what does getting 10-7 mean?

I'm assuming a ball spot, but since I live in my little pond and rarely jump out I'm not sure what it means.
 
Maybe it was just me or its still early, but didn't seem to be as much action as normal. Tony W gave Hennessee the called 8, 7 ahead for ???. Tony won in about an hour or so. The bank ring game had an exciting finish, Brian Gregg fired them in from everywhere! I still think Shannon is the #1 banker in the world right now. Interesting to see Tony Stewart(NASCAR driver) in Shannon's corner for the ring game. Rumor has it, that he was willing to back Shannon in some high stakes action!

10-7 means one person is giving a 3 ball spot in 1 pocket. one person has to get 10 balls to the other persons 7 to win.

you'll also hear someone giving something like 10-7/10-8. that means on the person giving weights break the spot is 10-7 and on the person getting weight's break its 10-8.

I heard about that game on saturday when i was at The pool room in ATL .And was told they were going to play agian that night..
And how's T W doing .I hope i get to hear some more good stories of Tony's road to Hi and others low on Play for the Large cashs piles.. :cool: :cool:

I was there. That was the wager. I am a little surpirsed about someone mentioning earlier in this thread that Efren had successfully spotted Cliff 10-7 on several occasions. Any comments?

Whats going on? Because of last years live feed and BCN chat room we got a lot of info on what was happening. It was a great substitute for not being there. Who's playing who? Any match games? Who's in action? Any good match ups in the one hole tourney? We're starving out here in the hinterlands.

The action story of the night: crazy spots. There's a camera crew waltzing around the entire area filming a independent documentary on the Classic. The woofing sounds fixed and film-embellished to the uninitiated, but it is, so far, as real as it gets. The match of the late evening was Gabe Owens vs. Ricky Bird. Race to 4, one-pocket, 10-7 for three and half large. If Ricky called a safety, after his shot he could move the cueball up to one cigarett length away as the crow flies. That is, he was allowed to place the cueball on the other side of an object ball. So, if he had the following leave after a safetety, he could place the cueball anywhere withing a cigarette length including spots like A or B:

In Ricky's own words, "I got a spot where I can't lose, and I'm losing!" Gabe had little trouble winning 4-1 . Although Ricky asked for the spot, it didn't seem he had the best strategy, opting to shoot wide open rather than play more funky safe, lift and place moves. Gabe showed that he is also a force to reckon with in the 1-hole, and I expect him near the finish line in the end.

I just asked a friend of mine who is in close with that crowd, and here was his response:

"i just talked to a friend of mine, that stakes cliff sometimes, and john drew, and he said that sure enough, he did lose to efren, saturday night. he said that it was for 12k, though, and it was Ricky Bird, that owns a pool hall in mobile, alabama, that staked cliff. efren gave cliff 8-7 (1-ball), and cliff lost."

This is 80% credible. :D

When a poolplayer loses a substantial amount of money and is backed by a stakehorse, do they have to win the money back to pay off half of their loss before they begin to collect half the winnings again or is it the stakehorses problem?

I don't see it as incredible. They played the same game last year at Derby City and Efren won that too. Efren also won the one pocket tournament last year I believe.
