5X, fluorescent or LED, largest lens possible. Don't use the lamp as much as head gear.

Hi,

We bought a cheap articulating one from Enco. We have it mounted to our CNC desk and it is handy for inspecting parts and pockets. Also very useful when knocking in the inlays.

Recalculating!!

THANKS for all the responses. It must be time to reconsider and by a low priced one first and go from there. I appreciate all your help!!

Well, I'm not a cuemaker, but I am a machinist, for 37 years and counting, and I've always used those style lamps for high detail work. They work great. Sure wish I knew more about woods, cuemaking looks fun. I can program and run the machinery as well as any I expect.

> The ones I use are handheld LED lights with a 3x magnifier that kind of remind me of that wand on Romper Room as a kid.

I first saw these on a commercial for that ITT Criminal Justice course where they showed someone in a lab using one. Then a couple days later saw a dude on CSI using one in their lab.

I found the exact articles at Harbor Freight for like 8 bucks a piece, and people in my machine shop class liked them so well that everyone went and got their own. My instructor said he sure wished he had one of those back when he was doing mold work.

I made an aluminum holder that allows me to swing it into place when I need it while mounted to an indicator base that sits behind my repair lathe. Tommy D.
