Making the best out of being stuck in the house (couple pics)

I was having some work done on the house today and- though it was a beautiful day- I hadda stay close to supervise.

I've been reading "Play Your Best Pool" by Phil Capelle, and I figured it was as good a time as any to put a few of his 9-ball drills to the test- by happy coincidence, a replay of the Chang/Gabica Guinness 9-Ball Tour leg from the Genting Highlands was on (if pool is on I'll watch it while I play- otherwise it's music only)- Chang won, by the way- not exactly a shocker- I aspire to play fractionally as well as he plays when he plays badly, if you know what I mean.:o

Blinding sunlight forced the blinds to be closed (plus I always feel a bit guilty if I play while people are working on the house, so I tried to hide a bit:cool: )

The usual rail-birds were in attendance- an attempt by the terminator-looking cat to storm the table was swiftly thwarted (though not without lingering animosity on both sides- the dogs are useless when it comes to cat-wrangling:mad: ):

There are worse ways to spend an afternoon.:)

Not a fan of red cloth, but nice looking room you have with some cute company, as well. I like that you're watching pool while you're playing pool :p

The price for my taking up the entire dining room and turning it into a pool room was that the wife got to choose the cloth color- it was worth it.;)

Any husband of mine better be okay with a 9' cherry Diamond with tournament blue cloth or he gets the boot.

You should have told me that *BEFORE* I got married to someone else. I would have accepted those terms.

I'd come by to watch the video...if I wasn't busy playing Gabica myself!!!

I played Gabica at "The Green Room" in Maple Shade, NJ during a Monday night nine ball tournament.

I was getting a MASSIVE spot in a race to five. Game on the wire, break, the five, and the seven.

I needed more.

I "won" two games, got within two games of winning (remember I had a game on the wire), and he never gave me a shot after that.

Most I remember is that when he had to put the cue ball in a very tight six by six inch spot when he needed to from across the table, he did it. He also seemed to be able to move the cue ball all over the table with the same cue speed; he never seemed to hit the cue ball hard, yet was sending 12 inches or 13 feet, all around the table. Draw shots seemed lower than possible, yet never miscued, of course.

The funny thing was that I had no idea who he was until I asked the room owner. I thought he was a Latino guy who shot with a Filipino stroke! I knew he was top flight by the spot I was getting, but had no idea was a top pro, coming fresh off the US Open bar table championships where he took second in eight and nine ball.

I am sure that a few of us here would have accepted and suffered a life time with those terms/rules. For the others, I guess they really don't like blue cloth.

Sweet Marissa, have you told my son those conditions yet. That might work with him. LOL

Nice pool room gobrian! <jealous>

Interesting/funny story Gregg! TY. I assume you didn't put pink slips on the table???

"The funny thing was that I had no idea who he was until I asked the room owner."

Why is it when we forget to ask for little details upfront we soon end up scratching the bottom of an empty pocket? "Ohhhh, THAT's what Ralf Souquet looks like? I thought he was taller and had more hair... :o "

That's why we will never be married. It's gotta be green, or it ain't gonna work!:D

After months of playing on burgundy 860, I'm quite used to it and it doesn't bother me at all- it did take some adjustment in the beginning.

I also gotta admit it does go really well in the room.:D

I agree that it looks great. It is probably the best color to match the home room theme. It's just the chalk that I have a real hard time with, what a mess. Nice job on your room, glad you got to enjoy your day.

Silver Cup makes burgundy chalk that matches the cloth almost perfectly (unfortunately there's no Master Chalk equivalent, but the Silver Cup chalk isn't that far off).;)

Nice looking table and that looks like a ZAC cue you are plying with. I fyou want to totaly block out the sun and also people wont see you cut some carboard to th size of the window and cover it with foil. It will keep the room cooler and help with the cloth color fade if you dont have a solid naughahide cover. the cover will also keep the cat from scratching at the rails unless they are declawed..Just some friendly info.

It all looks good,

Craig

The sun is only a problem for a short time in the afternoon, and I only hide when there are workers on my property.;)

Yep- that's the Zac I picked up when I was in NY a couple weeks ago- great cue- I'm still "learning" it, but I really like it so far.:)

This is the room is it's usual state of lighting (with Mojo in his usual position):

You are a sadistic tease!!!!:D LOL That statement kills any dude on this forum. Well done. I have to say this, my wife is very cool. She plays pool with me all the time and even tolerated the table in the living room before I had the fundage to inclose the garage. She also allowed me to by a Gold Crown and doesn't mind my playing time. I am a lucky man....:D

So what? Women never tell the whole terms before the marriage. There's always that special term which we only realize some days later
