Manolo's stolen cue

I thought it was strange that he was playing with a backup cue because his playing cue was stolen. I wonder if it was just a case of simple theft or if somebody with a side bet was trying to change the outcome of the match.

Does anyone know the story behind it? I tuned into the match late and heard that he was playing with a borrowed cue.
I hope it wasn't from checking it in when he flew to the match. I've heard so many stories of guys getting their cues stolen by luggage handlers that just the thought of it makes me sick to my stomach.

I really don't see the logic behind making us check in our cues on airplanes.

I know some guys, I don't want to go so far as calling them friends, but people I know, who work for or have worked for a certain airport, handling luggage.... yeah, it happens, a lot.... from what I hear.
I think it's crazy that there isn't some system that can completely prevent this from happening.

I hate the fact that the airlines will not let me bring my cue on board and then have the gall to charge me for bringing an extra bag (I usually bring my golf clubs everywhere I go). I have no desire to use my $3000 cue as a weapon.

As for Manalo's cue, he could use a broomstick and beat 99% of the planet. He is something else. I hope he gets his cue back though.

They said early in the match that the cue he was using is one that he always carries with him but doesn't use. They didn't go into detail as to how his playing cue came up missing. He evidently had to borrow a break cue.

I talked to Marlon yesterday and he told me that the cues did come up missing on his flight coming from the Philippines. Can't imagine how this would effect you mentally before such a big match. Interesting though, Charlie Williams Lost all of his cues on the way to the Big Apple tournament a few years back just before the BCA Nine ball Invitational (now they have changed the name) when Charlie got to Vegas we gave him a new cue and Young Hwa Jeong (who's luggage came up missing with Charlies). Charlie went on to win the event, one of his biggest wins ever!

Didn't Scotty Frost lose his Southwest cue boarding , I kid you not, SoutheWest Airlines flight?
I believe he had that cue for 15 year or so.

I'm pretty sure it was a Cog that was stolen from Scott after the US Open a couple years back

Makes you wonder why Mike Massey and Dr. Cue don't have this happen to them, now those guys travel, especially Mike.

I do not think I would fly with my cue(s)...I have seen first hand how poorly luggage is treated.

For instance...if I were able to attend VF this year, I would very likely have just shipped to someone I know and trust that is near the event, and then again, ship them back. It may cost a bit more to do it this way, but the peace of mind would be priceless. :)

you can't carry a skateboard on a plane. That is def not true, as i flew recently cross country and had to put my board as check luggage.

I could be wrong on this, but I believe Mike does a lot of traveling in his RV. I know when he came to a local room of mine, apparently he just parked his RV out in the parking lot.

I have it on the highest authority that there will be a bridge soon.

From Manila to LA? Kinda far.:D

There will be a bridge soon. A man performed an act of such great kindness and selflessness that God took notice. He wanted to do something in return so he came down to earth and asked the man what he could do in return.

The man thought for awhile: "Peace in the mideast?"

"That is a tough one even for me. Anything else?"

The man said, "My wife is from the Philippines and really misses her family but she is afraid of flying. Perhaps a bridge?"

God said that was asking a bit much too. "Anything else?"

The man thought a long time. "OK could you just let me understand women?"

God looked at him. "Was that a two lane or four lane bridge you wanted? Rail included?"

I just talked with Francine last month and there about done with the Bouder now that they have their new hm in Idaho. He flew about the 1/2 and the other back in the day, drove, gas now @7mpg for a Fleetwood Bounder is quite rich, plus he always gets free room and he and she are gettin up there, its their two dogs that need the coach.;)

Questions

Let me ask because I really don't know. Aren't baggage handlers bonded by their airline company? If they aren't, they should be!

The last time I went to Nationals was in 5/2001, so I have not flown since then for anything. I am not missing much, from what I hear.

I am afraid I would have to buy some sheet foam to protect my cue or case if I flew. Actually, our city/county is looking to maybe lining up Amtrak passenger service from Oklahoma City through Wichita up to Kansas City.

mail your items...

i mail my items and pick them up at a local post office, especially my golf clubs... you keep checking your things in the bottom of that plane and you will loose them eventually...
