I am in Augusta, ga now and just finished playing with myself

At a fine poolroom called rack and grill.

I entered a crowded poolroom and asked if there was a wait list for a 9' table. The lady working tells me they only have one open and it is small pockets. Aww yeah.

The table she had to give out was a gold crown that was under a cover. I peeled that cover off and it was a super clean table that had recently been redone by mark Gregory and it played absolutely perfectly. What a treat it was to pplay on. I made some real nice outs and rattled some hangers.

I laughed, I cried, I loved it.

Super Nice work, mark. If I ever see you, imma gonna kidnap you.

You played with yourself in public?!?

Sounds like you spanked the balls.

I know, just a little juvenile humor.

Thanks man....I appreciate the complement on the table....I used to play there back years ago...and they been trying to get me for years to fix a players table for them to gamble on.
Sounds like it worked out well....I never even hit a ball on the table when I finished...by the time I was done recovering the room....I had to leave for another job....I recovered that table first....maybe I should of done that one last..and hit some balls around.

Thank you

I wasin Conyers about 3 years ago with David G, and we watched mark play some partnrsone pocket and Mark had tought game as his partner was not so good. We were bot really impressed with thaway he handled the game and coached his partner, We both agreed he would be a great instructor and may yhae missed his calling. He explains himself really well.

I remember one day, Keith and I drive to Morgantown, WV to try to play Joe, who owned Frank's. Joe liked to play good players with a spot, and he'd bet it up big. You could win five figures in this spot if you matched up well and played good.:D

When we walked in Frank's, there was Mark Gregory re-doing the tables. It was Mark Gregory who was driving Keith around Baltimore when I first met Keith. He had a big ol' black Cadillac or Lincoln, great road car.

Mark aint' a bad shot himself, either. ;)

2 things don't surprise me:

that mark Gregory redid a table to perfection.

that walter went into an unknown, crowded pool hall and sniffed out the best table in the joint in about 4 seconds flat.

good job, both of you. :eek:k:

best,

Those pocket cuts look sharp enough to shave with. On a table like that I'd never want to leave and will be deathly afraid it will be given out to some rubes that will spill drinks and put holes on the cloth.

Am I the only one on here that has noticed the pocket is not flush with the corner casting?

Pocket has been tightened, so I'm gonna assume the extended or shimmed rail is supposed to sit a bit into the casting. My table looks the same way after I had it felted and the pockets tightened.

I tuck them in when I leave...but they get knocked out and people don't know to tuck them back. I don't want to use a crown staple or tack to hold them in place...cause that ruins the pocket over time..
But maybe next time your there you can tuck it back in for me...since that's all you noticed.LMAO

Mark -

I have a Gold Crown III that was redone and I love it, the rails were replaced with new rubber.

In the past, I have played on Gold Crowns that I think some hack tried to "shim" the pockets and made the pockets basically unplayable for one pocket.

Is the only way to tighten up a table to completely replace the rails?

Thanks,

Ken

Blocked out all those bad memories huh?

Let's here your stories...you know me so well.
And while your at it. Why don't you sign your name to the posts...that way everyone can know if you know a 5 ball from and orange.
I sign my name when I have something to say....that way everyone know if I'm full of shit.

Hey Ken

Yeah...to tighten up the table properly....your going to need new cushions.
Adding wood to the ends of the sub rails and then new cushions so they reach the past the wood shims. That way you have a cushion instead of shims in the playing area.
Hope this helps.
