Mark Tadd at the Reno Open

Tough Call, all the way around ... I, personally, believe in a dress code for Tournaments ... However, when the code is not enforced for the entire tournament, I do have a problem with it ... Last year, at the IPT in Reno, I was delighted to see all the players decked out in business attire ... It was refreshing, to say the least, and brought a true sense of respectability and decorum back to the sport we all love so dearly ... Sadly, KT ruined the best thing to come along for Pool & Billiards community in many, many years ...

That sucks for you but I feel badly for Mark. I was rooting for him to pull this off. He is kinda like an urban legend in that many people have stories of MT but they all seem to be larger than life. It would have been great to see him put it all back together this week and win this event.

The legend nearly had a new chapter.

Mark T is indeed an urban legend. Him pulling a Reno win off would have been almost too good to be true.

Way to go Mark!!

Congrats to Mark on a good run! I hear he is going to be at DCC, so I'll have a celebratory drink (or three) with him there, if he'll let me buy them. If he's not doing the alcohol thing, I'll spring for Rootie Tootie Fresh and Frootie ice creams... :D

As long as we stick to talking about pool, I'm sure much merriment will be had all around...

I'm pulling for Mark Tadd ... I had a good encounter with him back in LA at South Bay Billiards when it was open ... good guy.

That must have been around the time I was playing there: 1993 or so. That's the only place I ever saw Mark, and I thought he would make his mark in pool if his temper didn't hold him back. I often wondered where he went. He was an exciting player; I hope he's back.

Yeah.. Mark always used to be an EXTREMELY well dressed guy, from what I saw on film (silk shirts, slacks, nice shoes..).

Let's not give him too hard a time, you guys. He's probably focusing real hard on winning, and it might have totally slipped his mind about last day dress code.

Russ

All right Russ, tell me right now, "DID SOMEONE THREATEN YOU?"

Tell me, tell me who threatened you? OK, if no one threatened you, then tell me where is the real Short Bus Russ?. Why are you impersonating our Russ? :)

Stay Safe!

I don't understand that rule. I think I you have a dress code, it should be for the entire event. If they were letting players wear jeans in earlier rounds they should be allowed to wear them in the finals. I think its fine to have a dress code, just be consistant and enforce it for the whole tournament.

FTR, similar dress codes are in effect for the U.S. Amateur Championship.

Wow, what a cool picture. Is that a young Johnny Archer with the baseball cap, standing next to Reid Pierce? That's Jimmy Mataya in the suit. The other player looks like it might be C.J. Wiley with long hair.

Yep, you got 'em all. :)

Right now, Archer is wearing a frown and no hat.

It's all about Shane. :)

On to the Mosconi Cup! The Sands is a done deal. Shane got the cheese again. And Johnny got some and so did Mark.

He Didn't Come Back In The Movie, Like He Did In RENO

This isn't right. It's puely a move and there is no reason for it. No tv etc.

What isn't right about it. The reson for the rule isn't the point, the rule is the point. Why didnh't he know? This ain't his 1st Rodeo!

I think it is 100% the responsibility of Mark Tadd to have known about the clothing rule and no one else's responsibility.

However, I would like to know how anyone thinks it should be any of the tournament directors' fault. There is a player's meeting where all of these type things are discussed or are open for discussion. The rule are published and it is up to the players to read them and to understand them. I've been guilty of misreading rules, been guilty of not reading rules and I've paid for being guilty. I've no one to blame except myself and yes, I sharked MYSELF.

Ya gotta like Mark Tadd. He's got explosive talent. Hope to see more of his controlled, explosive talent in the future.

Mark Tadd might be a good Action Report Match.

Mark Tad is a nice guy but some times has the proclivity to defy the rules. In 1993-94 in the same sands casino around the black jack table or some thing like that the floor manger warned him of his behavior but mark kept going. Then floor manager got him escorted out of that gambling arena.

I'm glad you remembered this, and reminded everybody.
