Mark Tadd at the Reno Open

And on the fourth day God said " change your jeans for the final day my son". I'm not even going to ask about the underware!!!

I'm routing for Mark. What an amazing player. LA Open legend!!!
Back in the day he always wore slacks in the later rounds. I wonder why he is so shocked now.

I meant to say in my post that he is not a large/small guy as far as I could tell from earlier videos I saw of him.

So, do you mean he is a big guy as in "tall", or "wide"? :D

Russ

I would say around 40-50lbs haveier then his former playing days and he is
around 6'2" or so.

Yeah.. Mark always used to be an EXTREMELY well dressed guy, from what I saw on film (silk shirts, slacks, nice shoes..).

Let's not give him too hard a time, you guys. He's probably focusing real hard on winning, and it might have totally slipped his mind about last day dress code.

It is definitely a crappy situation. But in all fairness to Scotty, who is an excellent tournament director, rules are rules. Dress code rules were put out way in advance for all players. Why should one player be in dress clothes and the other gets to play in jeans? And should he get a time extension to make it to the match? Will there be an *exception* added to the rules?

Directly from the Reno Open flyer:
DRESS CODE: For both events: T-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes are acceptable for all tournament play except for the final tournament day. Hats can be worn on approval before matches. On the final day, only sponsor logos or designs can be worn on the back of shirts. Player must wear a collared shirt or blouse, dress pants or slacks and dress shoes. Belt must be worn if pants or slacks have belt loops for finals.

Of course, I hope Mark finds some pants and gets back up there to shoot his match. Bad situation for all involved. Go Mark GO!!

Big fan of Mark's pool playing but if the rule were that clear he should have been ready. As a matter of fact he did show up at a IPT event and did not have the appropriate attire but had time to buy some.

I don't understand that rule. I think I you have a dress code, it should be for the entire event. If they were letting players wear jeans in earlier rounds they should be allowed to wear them in the finals. I think its fine to have a dress code, just be consistant and enforce it for the whole tournament.

Personally, I think that in these big events, the dress attire should be slacks and a collared shirt everyday. It would be a start in "cleaning up" the image of pool. JMO.

For some reason I remember the dress code being in place during all the matches at the Reno Open.

We should all look as sharp as Rempe.

This Is My Last Word On The Subject............. perhaps

In the future (as in the past) I refuse to appear in the Finals of any major pool tournaments if I'm required to wear specified clothing...

I think the idea is that.. Some percentage of the tournament players may not even own slacks and nice shoes. Maybe not even a polo shirt.Nothing wrong with that, it's just that some people may be much more casual in their day to day life.

The tournament promoters might believe it would be unreasonable to enforce a dress code the entire tournament, as that might require people who are not going to cash high, to buy three sets of clothes they are not going to wear any other time.

The flip side to this is that the people there on the last day most certainly can afford 3-4 sets of clothes. :D

That sucks for you but I feel badly for Mark. I was rooting for him to pull this off. He is kinda like an urban legend in that many people have stories of MT but they all seem to be larger than life. It would have been great to see him put it all back together this week and win this event.

The legend nearly had a new chapter.

Final finals

So it's SVB and Archer.

Tough call. SVB is in dead stroke and Archer is hungry for a win. Bets?

What is the race to? If it is 13, I will take JA and 3 games.

I don't agree with that. The dress code says you must wear certain types of clothes, not clothing that is of a certain monetary value. You can buy these types of clothes just as easy as t-shirts and jeans. I really don't think there are many people paying the entry for the tournament and staying in Reno for 4-5 days that can't afford dockers and polo shirts. A lot of these guys who you say may not afford this type of clothing are shooting with $2000 custom cues.

Jay, I would say he was sharked by his self...

You are generally the most logical person on this board and if what people are saying about the flyer, then I believe that Mark only has himself to blame for not being dressed appropriately for play. I am sorry for you and Mark that he did not win, good luck at the DCC.

Take Care

Hmmmm, maybe. What's Archer wearing ?
D.
:)

Well, following the dress code, I think Johnny should wear a light and loose blouse. Maybe some khaki slacks since he's slender and it won't make his butt look big. SVB, basic black dress.. of course.

I can't comment on shoes because I've never been able to play in heels. But then, that's why I'm not a world champion. :(
