I'm glad you remembered this, and reminded everybody.

Jay I gave a serious thinking before I posted that.I posted that because some posters were talking about how it could be a sharking move on him by (? who)asking him before the match to get dressed in pants. How can that be sharking move? how can anyone come to such conclusions given the fact that the rules of that tournament were very clearly written requiring dress slacks for the final day? What stopped him in complying with the rules and authority?

What isn't right about it. The reson for the rule isn't the point, the rule is the point. Why didnh't he know? This ain't his 1st Rodeo!

Ironman, read post #44. I posted based on what some others had said . Then other factors were explained and I posted #44 based on the new info.

i've read so much about mark tadd on here and he is indeed an urban legend. i do hope he does get back to his best because i like many others have never seen him play properly.

Was this picture taken in Greensboro,N.C.? If so i gave Mark a ride from Mauldin S.C. to this tournament...I believe they played at the Howard Johnson....
I think that is the tournament. I went up from Greenville, SC as well. I stayed at the Howard Johnson, but i thought the tournament was at a small convention center up the street a little bit. I beileve the tournament was the World 9-ball Championship, a Camel Tour event. I want to say December of 1995, but I'm not 100% sure. I think there had been a tournament at Jimmy Hodges place (Cue Time) in Mauldin a week or two before, and most players went straignt from there to Greensboro.

I saw Mark Tadd and Shannon Daulton gamble at that tournament in Mauldin the week before. Shannon was getting the 8. He had to be less than 20 years old at the time.

My point is that we have all been to many tournaments over the years and rules and dress codes vary from tournament to tournament. The promoter makes the rules and the TD whether he likes it or not becomes the enforcer. That is his job and can often not be fun.

My point is that there is no one to blame here but himself. If he wasn't aware, why not?

On several occasions we have had guys run into the pool room at 12:10 Sunday morning for a 12:00 match huffing and puffing claiming no wake up call, traffic, or the old accident routine. We give a 15 minute grace and that is it. Then they forgot their shirt or why can't they hit balls?

We even had one this summer walk in right at the deadline and demand time to warm up. I told him it was time to start and he threw a fit. I told him the other guy was ready to go and it was time. He still threw a fit and I finally told him it was past tiem and to begin or I would award hisopponet 1 game. He becameirrate and forfieted out of the tourney. He then came back 15 minutes later and demanded to play his match.

These types of issues are very childish and get very old for the TD.

The picture was taken in Reno at the Sands sometime in the mid 90's. IIRC, that picture was taken right after Tony Ellin defeated C.J. Wiley in the finals.
