a little heat will do you good dont be scared
from what i saw in san antonio this weekend theres endless construction around the outter loop , its ugly and i10 is everyones worst nightmareNo matter where it goes in Texas, I'm for it. It's probably the only way I'd get to go to one.
I grew up outside of Corpus Christi. It's nearly as hot and way more humid than San Antonio and Austin, but it does usually have a breeze coming off of the Gulf. There are a couple convention centers that are close to the airport that would likely work pretty well.
I live in Austin and would say I think San Antonio would be a better choice. The Riverwalk area has multiple convention centers, hotels and creature comforts in the downtown area and is only like 10 miles from the airport. I like to think that it would get picked for that alone.
El Paso would be an interesting choice albeit a long drive for me.
Haven't been to SA in a couple months but I'll take your word for it. I-35 in Austin is ridiculous for construction at the moment and I'd almost rather drive in rush hour traffic in Houston than drive on I-35. It's bad enough in Austin that I don't get on 35 unless I absolutely have to.from what i saw in san antonio this weekend theres endless construction around the outter loop , its ugly and i10 is everyones worst nightmare

Both trash lol ac is just trash with a beachAnd Atlantic City was better...grew up in jersey and other than the casinos it is a shit hole ..kinda like Camden with casinos in the middle.
I think Matchroom wants a location that spectators want to go to for something other than pool. That's why Orlando works for them. It's also why Atlantic City is no longer going to be a venue. There may also have been a cost issue in AC -- I can't imagine Harrah's giving anyone a good deal.Do pool players even go outside?![]()
My buddy came back from Vegas Sunday and said it was $17 mic ultra draftWhere in philli are they having it? Don’t say the same shit hole they have the expo in. Lol
Vegas is pricing themselves into bankruptcy .. no value in going anymore at this point.
No worse that ACYeah.., but your in scum bag filthy crime ridden phillidelphia. There are better places
What's in Orlando for adults to do? Orlando is not a destination unless you're going to Disney and pool players are not wandering around Disney without their kids and they're not bringing their kids to the US OpenI think Matchroom wants a location that spectators want to go to for something other than pool. On the other hand, DCC at the Horseshoe is only about the players and a few serious die-hards. A week plus on the beautiful Indiana Riviera in the middle of winter and nowhere is not a problem.
Oh yeah.. I was parings $17 for a beer there. Vegas has to wake up and realize they are pricing themselves out of existenceMy buddy came back from Vegas Sunday and said it was $17 mic ultra draft![]()
You know you kind of contradict yourself within your own post. You say “it needs nicer cities that are relatively inexpensive to run a big tourney and that are easy and cheap for players to get to”.Shekels pay Matchroom - and they pay the players. Pool has suffered for money a long time, and you still want them to suffer? No thanks.
The other U.S. Open this week has a $90 million prize fund. Now that’s shekels. Wish the billiards U.S. open got a fraction of that.
MR needs more places like Hanoi and Orlando where large fan support is there from day 1. It needs nice cities that are relatively inexpensive to run a big tourney and that are easy and cheap for players to get to. How come? Not enough shekels.
Purists and some older fans might not like it and I get it, but something had to change.

Well, the city, and surrounding area the US Open was always held at IS a nice area. It has a large convention center that would be cheap for MR to run the tourney. It always was easy and cheap for players to get to, and stay for the entire week, far more so than it has been since MR moved it to Casinos in Vegas and Atlantic City. There are numerous hotels in the tidewater area that offer better and cheaper accommodations than the Casino Hotels players MUST stay in if they want to play the event, not to mention for the fans that attend the event. There are more, better, and cheaper restaurants there for players and fans to choose from to eat during the week of the event. There are other attractions in the area for those attending the event to enjoy than there are in Vegas and AC where MR has held the events since they acquired it, both Vegas and AC are relative pits with bad food, expensive accommodations and no other attractions other than casinos.
What there IS NOT, is a flipping casino that will basically give the convention space to MR for nothing, or next to nothing, and their attached hotel that will give a kickback to MR for the expensive rooms they force the “poor players” you speak of, to stay at in order to play in the event. They give the sweetheart deal & kickbacks to MR because it fills their crappy hotel, fills its attached crappy restaurants, and fills its crappy casino because there IS nowhere else to stay, eat, or other attractions in the area but the Casino’s.
They don’t care about easy to get to, or better and cheaper accommodations, or better, cheaper, and more plentiful dining options for players and fans. They don’t get anything from that. They want it somewhere in a Casino or Resort where everyone from players to fans pay to stay at hotel, eat at attached restaurants, gamble at the attached casino, so they get their kickback cut. They could give a rats ass about the quality of the experience for the players or fans.
