Maybe I took my pool ball washer TOO far!!

Dam....all that work for a ballwasher?? But it's a cool one for sure..you've got talent. Would love to see you make a auto-chalker!

You have a lot of talent and that has to be the coolest pool ball cleaner anyone will ever see. I know it's a little over board, but man that's a neet project!

And to think, 20 minutes ago before I looked at this thread I was completely satisfied with my Ballstar cleaner. Now that thing is a piece of crap and needs to be replaced. Amazing what perception does for a person.

Thanks a lot :)

Outstanding!!! Your workmanship is top notch and the design, well,
it's very, very cool. What a great project. Congrats.

In awe of the "funnest" project I've seen

Probably one of the FINEST designs I've ever seen for a ball washer! "Overboard"? That's all in the eyes of the beholder, my friend, and I don't think you went overboard.

Also, congrats on your new Solid Edge skills! I used to work for Intergraph Corporation (HQ'ed in Huntsville, AL) for 10 years, and they were the original creators of the Solid Edge suite before that development division was spun-off into its own entity.

Being the EE type myself, I couldn't help but notice the pics I reposted underneath my post sign-off. These look very familiar, and I can't quite put my finger on why.

Were these repurposed from another piece of gear? And if so, what piece of gear, if you don't mind my asking?

Mighty cool

I like that 'high rev speed blur pic'. Have you spun both wheels at the highest speed simultaneously? Appears pretty well balanced when slots are fully loaded.

Will the lid lock down in the closed position? Or operate only with the lid closed? (Any kids in the house?)

Great job.

ps: Is the 'carpet'-the same material that is often seen in custom made audio speaker boxes construction?

No kids. It will be able to run with the lid open. I could change that with a little code in my Plc. There's already a prox to know when the lids open so it would be easy but no plans to operate that way.
Seems pretty balanced right now but I will probably figure out the heavy spot and either add opposing weight or drill a couple holes.
And yeah it's speaker box carpet.

Most Everything in this project was made out of repurposed material. Electronics are mostly old scrap salvage from work.

Would you be so kind to let me know what those were? I'm scratching my head at those pictures, *knowing* I've seen those components somewhere before, but can't quite put my finger on it...

You can PM me if you're worried about any IP (intellectual property) issues with posting on a public board. (I have no interest other than satisfying curiosity.)

Regards,

I don't think you went too far at all. Very nice job! And I wouldn't be surprised if it outlasted anything else on the market today. Superb workmanship, I wish I had one.:thumbup2::thumbup2::yeah::yeah:

Thanks.

Mighty fine work.

Just a few more pics.

Operator interface pic of each side running with a time countdown.

Obviously, your day job is at NASA building spacecraft.

hope they don't miss their parts.

you, sir, are obviously insane over pool. welcome to the fraternity.

and if anyone doubts my pool insanity, I'll be posting a new thread later today or tomorrow that should pretty much settle it.

I think you all will get a kick over what's being done here at my house today.

that really is the baddest ball washer on the planet.

best,
brian kc

LOL!! I do enjoy pool...not as much as I used to but still in my tops for sure. I actually enjoy doing this design and build stuff a ton!

Looking forward to seeing your creation!!

Honestly I wouldn't say "Too Far" but I'm probably a really bad judge of that. :)

But I am curious why the controls are where they are and not some place more visible and accessible. Unless this sits on a table or something but it seems to big for that.

Dam with those LEDs this ball clean is the blingest i've seen. You should really include a subwoofer and some loud amps. Throw on some 28" chrome spinners with hydraulics you'll have MTV knocking on your door real soon for a reality tv show! Oh and if you could re-fabricate that entire monster with LV Monogram....

OMG, I believe that you just set the bar a little too high for future home made ball washing projects.

Amazingly beautiful and ingenious for sure. Great job.

Have to sell one of my Harleys just to make a down payment on one of those babies.

Very nice!! Record a video of it in action (esp at night, with the LEDs ) when its done and post the youtube links up here!
