I'm getting tired . 69 yrs and been working everyday since I was 16 . Usually 7 days a week , sometimes as much as 18 hrs a day . In the last couple yrs , over a 1500 sets of J/ps between Christy and myself . When Christys hands started hurting her and had to quit working in the shop , it just seemed to die . I just dont have the ambition to do what I used to . This is one of the reasons I dont like takeing advance payments , I knew someday I would be slowing down . I have some sets of j/ps on the books and will be finishing them off and will still build a few in the future . I have a helper Chuck Dykman who has been a big help . He can do anything in the shop . All I have to do is point and he can do it . I can pick the combinations of woods , design the rings , and tell him how I want it built and Chuck can do it .

Heres a Ebony and Curley Spalted Maple . We will be finishing up in the future . Thanks for looking .

It's good to hear that you are not going to quit completely. You do amazing work.

Take your time and relax man. You have earned it.

I hope to play some more pool with you my friend, I need another beating. Sweet looking cue. Take care. Rod.

Don't quit yet ...

I want you to make me some JP's next year after my cue gets built ... lol

My friend

Buddy, just slow down and do what you feel like doing. You dont owe anybody anything. Just work at your own pace. I know you and you push yourself everyday. Don't do that! We are getting to old to put in 12 hr days. Take a day off from time to time and you will be just fine. Give me a call and just shoot the breeze from time to time. Take It Easy

Awesome curly spalted maple. I really like the color of it. Got some to sell????;)
Sad to hear you are going to slow down, but once you do, you may find yourself speeding back up every so often:smile: It's hard to break the old habits. My Dad is 80 and still turns wood every so often, is always on the go, and does small projects. He says he has slowed down, but even now at 80, you will get tired following him during a busy day.

Jim, big fan of your work. Glad to read you will be keeping a hand in it when you want. Find the balance you are looking for and be happy no matter where it leads, you deserve it.
