Is this true? I live in Milwaukee, only a few minutes from McDermott and hadn't heard this before. Wednesday night someone told me they had heard McD was going under. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Call McDermott directly and ask them:thumbup:

2 words Nick...Liquidation sale...!

I hate rumors like this. But if it's true I probably have some part in it - I just registered my car trunk cue for the lifetime warranty last night which naturally put the kibosh on the company.

I hope not. :( If so I will need to find a different cue maker the next time I want to get a new cue.

Well if they continue trying to sell that Prestige series at those prices, they may go out of business. I do hope it's not true though.

I remember my first McDermott cue the E-I6. Bought it in 1992, after coming back from Desert Shield/Storm. Of course I was feeling extra patriotic at those times. To this day I still believe that it may have been the best hitting cue that I ever owned. Forget about the value of it, because I have many cues that are non-monetarily very valuable to me. If I had the chance to ever get my hand on one of those again, I would do it in a heart beat!!

May I advise everyone to be carefull what you say on a forum such as this. Rumors can be started by the most seemingly innocent remarks and can build to have devastating effects on public businesses.

I sure hope not, cross our fingers and hope he means McD as in McDonalds AKA Mickey D'z lol

Not True

I just spoke with McDermott factory personnel and they denied this. They also asked for the thread address (So they could respond I suppose)

not that i know anything about the internals of business at mcdermott - but they've recently agreed a sponsorship deal with some pool leagues coming to england so i would say they're probably fine!

Don't Believe It!

I was on the phone with McDermott just a few minutes ago and they are alive and well. They are aware of this rumor on AZ and didn't seem to concerned about it. They are setup at Valley Forge if any members are interested in asking the reps there, but I think it is just a rumor nothing more nothing less..

Thank God!!! I was hesitant to start this thread and ask but I had to know if this was just some sort of local rumor or if it was spreading all over. Thanks for getting on the phone with McD and verifying this for me. I wasn't home today and was hoping SOMEONE would find out for me. Thanks again!!!

And I hope the best for McD. They're a local company so this makes me feel even more obligated to hoping for continued succes.

I had heard they weren't sponsoring no leagues or tours any more when I was talking to them about the i-shaft a few months ago. American made products sponsoring overseas but can't sponsor in our own country. That is as bad as the "American" Pool Players Association sponsoring Allison & Kelley but can't sponsor any of our American girls.

Not to worry about McDermott. They are using Jerry Powers brilliance to produce some new products that will be great for poolplayers. I spoke with Jerry today, in the McDermott booth, and he showed me some of the new stuff coming out.

Btw...McDermott is up in Menomenee Falls, which may be "local" to Wisconsin, but certainly isn't local to Milwaukee!
