I am pleased to introduce Mike Murphy, the New Owner of The Jointed Cue
in Sacramento. Alongside him is his Father, Don Murphy, a daily 14.1 player
and lover of Pool in general.

Please come by and enjoy the same Great Atmosphere, Tables, Players,
and the Fantastic Lunch Counter. Re-unite with old friends and make some
new ones along the way.

I am adding several pictures taken today during my visit for my regular
thrashing at 9-Ball by John Avalos (80 yrs. young).

It definitely does look like a "J.O.B. Billiards shirt. Same logo as on my polo. I'm going to have to make the 'Jointed Cue' a stop the next I'm visiting my stepson and his family in Folsom. I usually only go to Hard Times because of time restraints. Heck, I'll just have to add a few extra days to make time to incude the Jointed Cue.:)

I play, exclusively, with Alex Brick Customs and I suppose he still operates
out of J.O.B. in Nashville ? I need to get one of those shirts.

I've heard great things about that room over the years and would love to visit one day.

Hard to see from the pics, but how is the light on the tables without direct overhead lighting?

Nice, do they still the back room? Last I was there 1978 or 9, Fats gave me a ride back to the room, and I busted Annagoni, was a good week.

Yes, there's still a back room.

I'm guessing it was about 7 or 8 years ago that David cut some of the bandstands and added another table.

So there are four tables back there now, instead of the three there used to be.

Best of luck to you and hope to visit in the near future.

Hello Mike Murphy and welcome.

Although most of my memories of the Joint was over 30 years ago, I occasionally stop by when I am in town to show my "newbie" pool players in tow, what a real poolroom looked like.
The tournament atmosphere at the Joint back then was like a electric circus. So much going on, so crowded, exciting and always had stories to bring back home.
I'm sure as a new owner, you will be looking for things to improve in a room that kinda
stood still in time. I am not a regular there but the longtime players are probably very
happy that the room is still open.
So the next time I am in town (August running a tour stop for the Tiger Tour at Hardtimes)
I will come by to meet you and have some dinner there and maybe play with my Uncle Ted.

I have endured two of my poolrooms closing. 17 years at the original Californa Billiards, and now 16 years at the newer California Billiard Club.
Now a 3rd California Billiards to open in Feb 2014.

Feel lucky not to be a homeless poolplayer.

Good Luck!!

Eric, keep up the good work. Hope to see you one more time before my time.
