Memorable threads here on AZ Billiards?

hmmmm,.....
Going back a few yrs here.
For amusement would be the kid with the "Ramshot," and the Trampster was always good for a laugh. (Tramp Steamer)

Me personally, I enjoyed creating and posting on this thread. We drove cross-country to Las Vegas, as I do not fly in airplanes, and it was one of the best experiences of my life, seeing the USA up front and close. Never saw a rainstorm in the distance before, and then there were those mountain goats in Vail, Colorado, but my favorite was the landscaped green cornfields of Iowa with the azure blue skies.

The one about the under the radar world beaters who were on the way to a big tournament to take every top rated pool player down by surprise. Enroute to the tournament one or both got involved in a game and people got shot, as best I remember anyhow.
I still have a limp. 😁

The guy who thought he was going to play at pro speed within 5 years and ended up quitting pool entirely after about 6 months.
Many people do. It dawn's on them that this game is a heckuva lot harder than it looks!! Lol. They don't realize it takes time to develop a stroke and most aren't willing to or can't put the amount of time and energy necessary into developing one. So they say goodbye. Bummer.

A lot of very entertaining threads got deleted cuz they went too far off the rails. There were plenty of classics, from back in the day. Several have already been mentioned.

It is kinda fun to go back thru some old threads, now and again. I'll see posts from folks that used to contribute prolifically, and wonder what's up with them now. Sadly, many aren't with us any longer, as well.

Agreed. There's also the fact that many reasonably coordinated people with sufficient table time and access to instructional materials can improve by around 300 Fargo points in about 18-24 months (from 100-150 total beginner to 400-450 intermediate player).

That early rapid progress is intoxicating and it seems like it will never stop. I remember having some delusions of grandeur that I would be an A player within about 3 years of becoming a C player. But instead, several years later, I'm still essentially a (stronger) C player, perhaps on the cusp of being a true B player.

Most people stall out big time in the low- to mid- 500s, especially if they picked up the game later in life and don't have an absurd amount of time to dedicate to practice and competition.

Well, the only problem with THAT is that back in 2010 whateveritwas there were like at least 20 threads going before, during, and after. This was all before all the big streamed matchups by the pros AND there was real blood in the water. I was told over 800 tuned in to the stream.

ah, good times, lol
The threads were truly binge worthy.

Runner up would be the RKC vs Mark Gregory battles, where both guys clearly know their S***.
